From the Minister
This Sunday we welcome back to our pulpit the Rev. Rali Weaver. She knows us well! Rev. Wheeler was ordained at King’s Chapel on March 26, 2006, and served as our Assistant Minister from June of 2004-July 2007. In September of 2007, she began to serve as the Parish Minister at The First Church and Parish in Dedham, Massachusetts, a Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Rali also served as the Sabbatical Minister in Joy’s absence in the summer of 2019.

From the Bench
We open this Sunday with Iain Farrington’s setting of Amazing Grace. A bit unusual in form, it practically traverses the entire hymn with an introduction followed by all the verses, with a modulation to a different key for each one, employing the opening motif to lift us up another fourth each time. Soloist Emily Bieber-Harris was feeling particularly Marian this week and will treat you to the Quia Respexit from Bach’s Magnificat as well as Schubert’s Ave Maria from 100 Greatest Classical Hits. The postlude is the skippy scherzo from Vierne’s first symphony.
From the Bench will take a hiatus and be back refreshed from vacation in three weeks.

Slavery in Boston: Exhibit at Faneuil Hall
King's Chapel Visit: Sunday, July 16, 12:30 PM
The City of Boston has opened an exhibit that addresses the concerns King's Chapel has been discussing, but in a very different way than our plans do. It's well worth visiting, and more information can be found here. The Adult Religious Education Committee invites you to go with others from King's Chapel. Meet Betsy Peterson at the chapel after Morning Prayer, or join her by the Sam Adams statue in front of Faneuil Hall at 12:30 PM.

Mosaic Workshop
Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23, 1:00- 3:00 PM at the Parish House
Do you want to create something beautiful? Sign up for a two-part mosaic-making workshop led by our own Emanuel Genovese. You may have seen other mosaics by Emanuel's students decorating the Little Chapel at the Parish House! In this workshop, Emanuel will lead us through the process of designing and creating a mosaic of our own. Please sign up by e-mailing Laura, and don't dally! Slots are limited to 6 students, and sign-up closes on July 15 to allow Emanuel to buy materials. Lunch will be provided at the first workshop.

Sandwich-Makers Needed
Sunday, Aug 6, 10:00- 10:50 AM, at the Parish House
Hands are needed to assemble lunches for Common Cathedral! And all parishioners are invited to attend the service at Brewer Fountain on our days of lunch service. Having lunch and/or attending a service with our unhoused neighbors, 12:30- 2:00 PM, is an incredible blessing, and we would love to have you join us. The next date is Oct 1, followed by a Dec date, possibly the Dec 24 .
If you have a BJ'S or Costco card and could occasionally be a substitute shopper on Thursday or Friday before Common Cathedral, we will provide a list and instructions.
Please contact Carol Genovese if you are interested in signing up to help or want more information.

In July we are open to share the chapel with visitors 7 days a week! Our hours are Sunday 1:30-5:00 PM, and Monday- Saturday 10:00 AM- 5:00 PM. (On Tuesdays, History Program closes from 11:15 AM- 1:30 PM for the midday recital, to which all are welcome.) Guided tours continue on their usual schedule and ticket prices, now including Sunday afternoon tours.
Please enjoy July's "Revolutionary King's Chapel" exhibit in the back of the Sanctuary. It shares the experiences of loyalists, patriots, and those caught somewhere in between, during that era of conflict and change.

Last Sunday, Morning Prayer coffee hour featured a charming cake celebrating the recent marriage of Alison La Rosa and Heath Dill in the Little Chapel. A surprise for Alison, the soloist at the service, it added flowery festivity to social time in the chapel courtyard.
