Film Lauderdale is excited to announce a large-scale addition to its local incentive programs intended to attract television and streaming series projects to Greater Fort Lauderdale! The Scripted Series Program offers a 25% rebate capped at $5 million per season with a minimum of $12 million in Broward County.

Marjory Stoneman Douglass Highschool Students Win National Award

We are thrilled to announce that students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School earned a prestigious national award at the 2025 Student Television Network Convention, held from March 1 to March 4 at the Tampa Convention Center.


WMSD-TV, the TV/Film program at MSD, led by teacher and advisor Eric Garner, brought 20 talented students to compete in the marquee student broadcasting award event. Students Riley Walsh, Ava Thomas, and Ellis Reuvers claimed First Place in the Short Film category!


In this exciting competition, students had just eight hours to film, edit, and produce a short film under strict contest guidelines. In addition to the Short Film contest, MSD students also showcased their skills in various other events, demonstrating their knowledge and expertise in student news broadcasting and film.


Congratulations to all the students on this awesome achievement!

BTS of Short Film 'The Test'

Check out behind-the-scenes photos from 'The Test', a short film directed by and starring Shawn Goolsby, a grantee of the Emerging Filmmakers Grant. Shot in Broward County, the film follows a dedicated lawyer who takes on a grieving mother’s case. As he delves deeper into the suspicious death of her son, he uncovers a dangerous web of deceit and corruption, leading to a deadly confrontation at a law school reunion.

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Film Lauderdale, in partnership with the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD), unveiled a new art showcase at FLL titled "Scene in Paradise".


The curated exhibit highlights posters of iconic film and television shows shot in Broward County, while emphasizing the significant economic impact of the screen production industry in the region. Several Broward County officials shared remarks spotlighting the County's vibrant film industry.


Located post-security in Terminal 3, Concourse F, the exhibit invites travelers to explore the diverse filming locations throughout the County, showcasing the places that brought many notable productions to life. Julia Stiles directorial debut, 'Wish You Were Here' will be featured at The Miami Film Festival on Sunday, April 6th with a special appearance by Julia Stiles. Production filmed two weeks in Broward County, with key scenes shot in Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, and Davie. The Miami Film Festival runs from April 3rd to 13th. Film Lauderdale is offering a workshop for Makeup Artists that want to learn how to transfer their skills to the film and TV industry. This is a free 

workshop that will take place on Monday, April 28th from 9am-3pm at the Ann Kolb Nature Center in the Mangrove Hall. The workshop is open to Broward County residents ONLY, on a first-come, first-serve basis and must be 18+ years or older. Attendees can RSVP at the link below.

Transferable Skills Makeup Workshop

Apply for the Roy W. Dean Spring Grant, open to documentaries, narrative features, short films and web series. The grant seeks films that are unique, with compelling stories that make a contribution to society. The winner will receive a cash prize of $3,500 and more.
