Just for Teens!
Teen Clubs are in Full Swing!
Teen clubs are in full swing this December!

If you like books, you'll love Book Babble. This is our teen book club. This month, we're discussing American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang. If you haven't read it yet, no worries. Come anyway to listen to the discussion, meet fellow book lovers, and pick up next month's book. Our next Book Babble meeting is December 2 at 7pm, in the Study Room.

LGBTQIAP+ teens and allies are welcome to join Rainbow Club. In this inclusive club, we discuss queer culture and do an activity or craft. Come meet like-minded teens and have your questions answered in a safe space. Our next Rainbow Club meeting is December 7 at 7pm, in the Study Room.

Do you like anime, or do you want to learn more about it? Come to Anime Club on December 13 at 4pm in the Study Room. Here, we'll watch anime, eat Pocky Sticks, and have chances to draw or color manga pictures.

Movie lovers, come to Movie Club! Here, we watch movies, eat snacks, and talk about movies. Participants get to choose which movie we watch from a selection each month. Our next Movie Club meeting is December 20 at 4pm, in the Study Room.

Parents of teens, or any adults who love reading young adult fiction, Forever Youngish is the club for you! This book group is for adults (19+) who enjoy reading and talking about young adult literature. This month, we'll be discussing Parachutes by Kelly Yang. Come pick up your copy at the Circulation Desk. Our next Forever Youngish meeting is December 16 at 7pm in the Trustees Room.

There are no sign ups for any of the teen clubs! Just come when you can! If you have any questions about teen clubs, feel free to email Librarian, Alison Cochrane at acochrane@nevinslibrary.org or call her at 978-686-4080 x35.
What's Happening in Children's?
The Holidays in the Children's Department
Can you believe the holidays are upon us already? We’re here to help you celebrate with several holiday-themed programs in December, including a special Books & Bubble program, and a screening of the wonderful movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.

A great way for your children to spread holiday happiness is by sending “Holiday Cards for the Homeless.” Not everyone has a home for the holidays, so all the more reason to share with them the good cheer of the holiday season. From Dec. 1-18 we’ll have a table set up in the Children’s Department where kids can write and decorate holiday cards to be distributed to the unhoused who attend the Movement Family’s weekly dinner in Lawrence.

Just in time for the new year, we’re launching a new book group for ages 9-11. Remember how you used to bring your kids to storytime when they were little? Now that they’re older we have Story Crime for them, where they’ll read and discuss mysteries! Also for the same age group we’ll have a special Board Game Gathering during the holiday vacation, where they can fill a few hours playing various board games.

Besides all of the above, we have our usual roster of preschool programs, storytimes, science sessions, craft clubs, and our book group for younger children. Last but not least, here’s a heads-up for new and about-to-be parents: we'll be offering a four-week baby massage class beginning in January, and registration will open in mid-December.

Keep an eye on the Children’s Department calendar and Facebook page to learn about this and other upcoming programs – we look forward to seeing you at the library!

Happy December, Happy Holidays, and Happy Reading!
