On May 4, Nourishing Hope’s Young Leaders Board (above) threw its annual End Hunger Social and raised an impressive $62,276 for the agency! The Young Leaders Board (YLB) is comprised of local young professionals looking to gain board experience, as well as perform service and make connections in their community. The event took place at Joy District in River North and offered a silent auction, food and drink, and of course, dancing (rumor has it the Nourishing Hope employees had the best dance moves).

Many, many thanks to all who supported the End Hunger Social by attending, bidding in the silent auction, or making a donation in honor of the event.

We would like to personally invite you to join us for Nourishing Hope's largest annual fundraiser, the Nourishing Hope Gala, taking place on September 29, 2023, at The Geraghty in Chicago. Early bird tickets are on sale now!

As an organization committed to ending hunger and poverty in Chicago, this gala represents our most significant fundraising effort of the year. This year, we aim to raise $900,000 to provide 200,000 essential services across our city. These services include not only monthly grocery access, but also mental health counseling, public benefits assistance, job search support, and housing assistance.

The gala itself promises to be a fantastic evening. With a silent auction filled with exciting prizes, live entertainment, and dancing, there will be plenty of fun! We'll honor the impact of Nourishing Hope and our partners over the past year and look forward to celebrating our shared achievements with all of our supporters. Please extend a warm welcome to Sarah Cerkvenik (she/her), who joined Nourishing Hope as home delivery coordinator this month! Sarah will be based at the Hub and will assist Ana Petersohn with the Home Delivery North program.

Sarah earned degrees in social work and gender studies from Saint Louis University in 2020 and was previously teaching health education to freshmen in five CPS schools through Peer Health Exchange.

Sarah currently lives in Edgewater and enjoys going to concerts and comedy shows, spending time by the lake, and trying new ice cream shops.
