Summer SZN Begins 6/14

& we need help!

Summer may be a time of relaxation and vacation for many, but in student ministry, things are just ramping up! And that means the student ministry cannot continue to function without a growing number of volunteers.

In other words... We need YOUR help to make all these offerings a reality. Without volunteers, we simply can't create opportunities for students to grow in smaller groups with more intentional connections. We would have to stay in large groups where some students will inevitably fall through the cracks. I don't want that. I don't believe God wants that. I hope you don't want that either.

You may be thinking, "Chris, I'm not sure if I understand teenagers enough to really connect with them." These teens and preteens need A TEAM of people inside and outside their family unit to make them a priority. That’s it. Hear (or read) me say this: You don't have to be the coolest, funniest, most athletic, or creative to disciple teens. They are looking for someone who cares about them, wants to see them grow as disciples of Christ and wants to hear what they have to say. Leaders who listen first, then ask questions and share their own stories as they relate to what students are going through make a real impact on young lives.

I hope you understand how important your support of and participation in discipleship ministries is to the Kingdom of God. Perhaps take some time to remember the adult leaders who poured into your life and ponder where you would be without that team committed to you.

Faith in Film Nights

I love movies. Some of them inspire me to get up and start taking action. Some challenge me to think beyond my own perspective. Some make me laugh so hard I start to cry tears of joy. Movies have a knack of captivating our attention and helping us see things we might otherwise miss. So, why can’t we grow faithfully through admiring the art of cinema? I believe we can. Join me and a panel composed of other leaders in discussing how we can see important aspects of our faith made real (well… kind of real) in movies.

June 28 - Captain America: Winter Soldier

July 12 - SuperMan Returns

August 30 - Invincible

** This is for families, not just students. You can decide whether the movie for that night is appropriate for your child as some movies contain some violence and coarse language **

Sunday AM

Sunday mornings are knee deep in discussing the Great Commission where Jesus sends his disciples out to make more disciples across the world. Throughout the month of June, we’ll explore the series called “Sent Together.”

We all want to be part of something significant. We want to make a difference! We dream of making an impact and leaving the world better than we found it. Some people try to change the world all alone, but the people who’ve made the biggest and most positive differences in the world know you can’t do anything truly significant on your own. Jesus told us this on his last day on earth. He gave his followers a mission that would change the world — but he made it clear we couldn’t do it alone. He was sending us on a mission together. In this four-week series from the New Testament, we’ll learn from Jesus and some of his earliest followers that Jesus sends us on a mission — a mission that can bring healing, that can only be accomplished together, and that we can boldly choose to be a part of.

**continue the conversation at home with the Grow At Home Guide and the Youversion Bible App Devotionals… both can be found in the link above**
