The Front Door Agency Get-Well Buddy Bag Drive has been extended to Mon March 4!!:

Since there was such a large request for items to help the Front Door Agency (FDA) and Mary’s House this year, we have decided to extend the timeline a few more weeks so everyone may have an opportunity to help out. The Sign-up Genius has been updated, click HERE to be connected to the link. Please select any item(s), purchase the item, and then drop the item(s) off in the CGS office not later than Monday, March 4th. Any questions or if you would like to sign-up by e-mail or phone please reach out to Mary O’Reilly via e-mail at moreilly@cgsnashua.org or at 603-424-2432.

Our Welcoming and Support Committee is in need of a new chairperson. CGS is a Welcoming Parish, and many times in our lives we find ourselves in need of support from our community. As a parish, we are always there in support of our fellow parishioners and to welcome new faces. If you are interested in being the coordinator for support and welcoming, please reach out to either Pastor Kathy or Sue Corman, Senior Warden.

Vestry News: Vestry Member, Jacqueline Marshall, has found it necessary to resign from the Vestry. As we all know, being a new mom is a full-time job! We wish her and her family all the best. As per our CGS by-laws, the vestry has voted to appoint Thom Arpin to complete her term. We welcome Thom along with all of our new Vestry Members.

March 17: CGS Book Group Discussion

Bastille Day: A Novel by Greg Garrett. Recommended by CGS Parishioner and Vestry member, Sarah Patton. “With brilliant pacing and gorgeous prose, acclaimed novelist Greg Garrett tells the story of American TV journalist Calvin Jones, who travels to Paris to work with a producer friend he knows from their dark days covering the war in Iraq. Garrett’s characters wrestle with the ghosts of their pasts, as they long for love, friendship, and faith in the present. Bastille Day is a gloriously affecting novel about how our histories can damage us, but hope can heal us. (www.paracletepress.com)

Nursery Open!

Our new nursery is open downstairs every Sunday morning during the 10am service. Parents and little ones in need of a break can head downstairs and turn right at the bottom of the stairs. The nursery is the third classroom off the large activity room. Toys and snacks are available, and the downstairs family bathroom has a changing table.

Fellowship and Coffee:

It may not come to you as a surprise that responses from our Renewalworks survey included the need for more welcoming and a desire to participate in group activities. Coffee hour is integral in presenting a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all, especially newcomers.

Many people have been enjoying our fellowship time on Sundays, but we need your help to make it happen! We need some new faces and some of our parish groups to step up and host coffee hour. Please sign up below to help.

A Lenten Message from the Bishop

In his 2024 Lenten message, Bishop Rob suggests that the liturgical season is not about giving up sweets or starting a diet—both of which are focused on the self, but rather "Ash Wednesday and Lent are the turning points of the year when we look out from ourselves and discover who we are in our relationship with others, especially those who do not comfort us because they reflect our own tastes, race, leanings, learnings, or choices."

Conversations across the pond

Reflections from Bishop Rob will be part of a February 21 discussion between the Rt. Rev. Lusa Nsenga-Ngoy of Willesden, UK and the London bishop for ALMA, the partnership between Anglican churches of London, Angola, and Mozambique. The webinar will begin at 7 p.m. GMT (2 p.m. EST). Province I Formation Network Conference and Retreat

Thursday, March 14 - Saturday, March 16

The annual Province I Formation Network Conference and Retreat takes place March 14-16 at the St. Methodios Faith & Heritage Center in Contoocook. Those involved in formation for any age are invited to attend. Entitled “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Christian Formation in 2024,” the conference will offer time in large and small groups to discuss: What do we need to let go of, what do we need to reuse, what do we need to recycle? There will be time to discuss specific topics, as well as free time built into the schedule for personal retreat. Thanks to a Province I grant, the cost to attend is significantly reduced.
