City of Spokane joins Habitat for Humanity to celebrate legacy of President Carter
Mayor Brown and Council President Wilkerson joined Habitat for Humanity in celebrating the life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter, who devoted his life to everyone has a safe and affordable home. Mayor Brown reaffirmed the City of Spokane’s commitment to honoring his legacy by continuing work to building more housing opportunities for all.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
Mayor Lisa Brown proclaimed March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! She presented the proclamation at the new Chase Gallery exhibit, Outsider Art, showcasing artists with disabilities from the Pacific Northwest.

Happy 311 Day!
We stopped by the Spokane 311 office to ask them about the most bizarre questions they have gotten. Did you know that Spokane 311 handled over 190,000 service requests in 2024, and so far this year, has answered over 33,000? Thank you to our Spokane 311 customer service team for your hard work and dedication!

North Freya Street Closed for Water Main Replacement
Monday, the City of Spokane began a major construction project to replace a 30-inch water main along N. Freya St. in northeast Spokane. Freya St. is closed between Garland Ave. and Wellesley Ave., as crews reconstruct the roadway, improve sidewalks, and install stormwater management features. The goal is to enhance water distribution reliability and support future development. The project is expected to last through the summer. For more information visit our website.

You can help shape the next 20 years of growth in the City of Spokane! As part of the PlanSpokane 2046 Periodic Update to the Comprehensive Plan, the City of Spokane is hosting community visioning workshops in March to help identify the community’s desires for Spokane. No RSVP is required.

Waste to Energy Facility Spring Break Tours
See where your garbage goes at an upcoming FREE Waste to Energy Facility Tour! Follow the journey from the tipping floor to the boiler, where trash is burned at 2,000 degrees to generate electricity for 13,000 homes. Registration is required.

Strengthening Spokane Together
Spokane Public Schools and Spokane Parks and Recreation launched an innovative partnership to modernize existing infrastructure and address the growing need for youth activities, adult recreation, and community programs. Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge Seeking Volunteers
In April, Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge staff will be hosting single-day tree potting sessions. Volunteers will spend a half or full day assisting staff in potting native trees such as aspen, hawthorn, and cottonwood. These potting sessions are family-friendly and open to all ages. For more information about volunteering at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge or to RSVP for a tree potting session, contact Ranger Josh via email or phone.
