Registration for the 23-24 National Board Assessment Cycle: Open May 22
|
|
NBPTS has posted dates for the new registration window this coming year. The update, showing a May 22, 2023 opening for registration and February 29, 2024 deadline, was included in the Guide to National Board Certification. We can assume that this window will also apply to NBCTs completing MOC this coming year; however, the MOC submission deadline has not been updated in the Guide to MOC yet (TBD May 2024). This affects NBCTs with National Board Certificates expiring in 2024, or 2025 if submitting early.
To complete registration and any payments for the 2023-24 assessment cycle, access your NBPTS account.

Beginning July 1, 2023, your state certificate renewal process will change:
- You must earn ten (10) clock hours focused on national professional standards for education leaders (PSEL) and five (5) clock hours focused on Government-to-Government Relationships with federally recognized Tribes.
- Your National Board Certificate is no longer adequate to cover all renewal requirements.
- Once clock hours are earned, you can log them in the Professional Development tab of your E-Certification profile.

Become a WA State Trained National Board Facilitator for Free
|
|
Have you thought about becoming a National Board Facilitator? To ensure consistency across the state, NBCTs are asked to participate in Facilitator Training prior to hosting a cohort group. Additionally, OSPI will only approve cohorts that are run by trained facilitators. This training hones facilitation knowledge and skills, provides a deeper understanding of the revised National Board process, as well as develops skills in working with adult learners.
This year, OSPI"s National Board training is FREE and hosted entirely online.
Facilitator Training will also include a virtual Pre-Training component that is required for all attending the in-person event. The purpose of the Pre-Training is to equip facilitators with a baseline of prior knowledge to avoid the sit-and-get structure and provide more time for discourse among participants during training. Clock hours for this training are free through OSPI. There are two opportunities for training:
- June 26-28, 2023 - 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM (12 clock hours)
- August 7-9, 2023 - 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM (12 clock hours)
