SHARE:
Welcome to the Office of University Compliance Summer Series! We will share key information, reminders, and resources periodically throughout the summer.

First up: an overview of reporting compliance concerns.
Reporting a Compliance Concern
The University of Connecticut and UConn Health (collectively "UConn") are dedicated to the highest standard of ethical and professional conduct (check out the UConn Code of Conduct). Each individual associated with UConn is expected to conduct themselves according to this standard and ensure that their actions comply with UConn policies and relevant laws.

But what do you do when you observe a possible compliance issue?

Employees are always encouraged to discuss concerns or potential compliance issues with their supervisors and managers, but we recognize that may not be comfortable for all. To that end, the Office of University Compliance welcomes and encourages reporting of compliance concerns and/or seeking guidance regarding compliance issues.

Read on to learn how to use UConn's REPORTLINE. Employees can also contact the Office of University Compliance directly.
How to Use UConn's REPORTLINE
UConn's REPORTLINE serves as an anonymous resource for employees to report or seek guidance on possible compliance issues. It is supported by a third-party vendor and is available to anyone, including UConn employees.

What Happens When a Report is Submitted?
If submitting your report through UConn's REPORTLINE, you will be issued a Report Key from the system and be prompted to set a password. You can use the Report Key and password to return to the REPORTLINE system in 2-3 business days to check on the status of your report, ask questions, and/or submit additional information.

Review our website resources, which include our Investigation Protocol and Reporting FAQ's, to understand what happens after a report is made.

Individuals who report possible compliance issues in good faith will be accorded privacy and/or anonymity to the extent possible under the law, unless doing so prevents UConn from fully and effectively investigating or responding to the reported concerns.
Non-Retaliation Policy
The University strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports a concern in good faith, participates in the investigation of alleged violations of law or policy, or who assists someone in doing so.

The Non-retaliation Policy does not protect individuals who make a report that is knowingly false and/or made with malicious intent, otherwise referred to a “bad faith report”.
