Even though summer is just getting started, we are already thinking ahead to back-to-school time! We are serving a record number of shoppers and need your help to maintain our great selection and send every student home with the clothing they need to feel comfortable, confident and prepared to thrive.

*Shoes that are in good condition and suitable for school. Popular styles include athletic shoes (tennis, basketball, running, skate, etc.), slip-ons (e.g., Vans), canvas (e.g., Converse or Toms), flats, boots (all types) and black uniform shoes. Our most-needed sizes are for elementary school-age children (kids size 10 - youth size 5).
*Jeans, pants and shorts for ages 3 - 21. Anything girls (4T - 18), boys (4T - 20), young women (00 - 26) and young men (especially waist size 27 - 36) is helpful. Athletic styles (basketball or running shorts/pants, joggers, yoga pants, etc.) are especially popular!
*Short - sleeved shirts for ages 3 - 21 (4T/XS kids - 5XL adult). We most need sizes for elementary and middle school-aged students (kids sizes M, L and XL) and currently have an urgent need for men's sizes that would appeal to teens.
*Warm winter coats, jackets and hoodies for ages 3 - 21 (kids size XS - adult). We currently have an urgent need for men's sizes that would appeal to teens.
*NEW underwear and socks for ages 3 - 21 (kids size 4T/XS - adult). Adult sizes should be appealing to teens.
*Larger adult sizes that are appealing to teens help us offer our older shoppers the best selection possible. In the young women's section, we need pants (women's size 12 - 20, any style) as well as tops, jackets and hoodies (women's size L/XL and up). In the young men's section, we need athletic pants and shorts (all sizes up to men's 5XL).
Things we don't need:
-
Professional/business clothing. Our shoppers are most in need of clothing for school.
-
Baby and toddler clothing (size 3T and smaller). We serve ages 3 - 21 and do not need smaller sizes.
-
Housewares. Our space is limited, and our sole focus is school clothing. Please donate these items elsewhere.
-
Hangers. We have plenty, thank you!
-
Anything that is dirty or has stains, holes or damage. Items should be clean and ready hang in our shop. If you wouldn't give it to a friend, please don't give it to us!
Our team is passionate about supporting fellow nonprofits in our community! Please email Katie Jadwin for ideas about where to donate items that Clothes To Kids cannot take.

A Warm Welcome to Asucena!
|
|
We are pleased to introduce our program associate Asucena Acosta-Guzman! Asucena is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in social work at Metropolitan State University and has a a passion for helping families in her community get connected with the resources they need. She will help set appointments, assist shoppers, process donations and supervise volunteers. Welcome, Asucena!
|
|
We have made several major improvements to our donation center and shopping areas, but we have one big project left. We are looking for someone to paint the ceiling of our 2,500 square foot store. If you, or someone you know, can help (and knows how to use a paint sprayer!), please contact our program director Lisa Maloney at lisa@clothestokidsdenver.org.
Thank you!

Meet Nichole! She is a new volunteer and the Bin Champion at Eagle Ridge Elementary. She recently brought in the school's lost-and-found items (freshly laundered) and held an Undie 500 with her daughter Lilli to collect new socks and underwear for our shoppers. They collected an impressive 900 pairs of new socks and underwear.

Meet the Gibson family. When Sylvie and Estelle received some money from their grandparents to spend on "something good" they immediately thought of Clothes To Kids. Their mom Kelly helped them shop for some new socks and shoes, plus pick out some of their own clothes to donate. What an amazing gift!

These hard-working volunteers from the Denver Chapter of the Polka Dot Powerhouse did an incredible job organizing and sorting in the back room. Look at those piles! Thank you for your service and the many ways you support our mission.

It was so much fun to host two groups of Denver South High School Newcomers when they visited for some spring shopping. These students are recently arrived refugees and immigrants from all over the world. What a great group of young people!

Josiah from Ridwell just brought us 200 boxes of jeans the company collected from their subscribers. Our shoppers will be so happy to see these on our racks. Ridwell makes reducing waste easy by picking up hard-to-recycle items that commonly end up in the landfill, right from your front door. If you’re interested in cutting waste and doing good at the same time, check them out.

The students, staff and parents at Kent Denver School just wrapped up another very successful spring clothing drive. The Sun Devils collected 122 bags of clothing and 127 pairs of new socks and underwear. Kudos to Heather Hobson and Della Patteson for organizing the drive. It's their fourth year chairing the drive, and their second drive this school year.

This great group from Liberty Mutual Insurance did just about every volunteer job you can do in our shop - sorting, tagging, organizing, cleaning and hanging up clothes in the back room, plus restocking racks and assisting shoppers in the store. They were so energetic and helpful.

These student volunteers came from Bromwell Elementary to help us restock the store. They had an amazing amount of energy, even after being at school all day. The group also didn’t come empty-handed. They brought almost 500 pairs of new socks and underwear!

This fabulous team from As you Wish used their expert organizing and sorting skills to transform the Clothes To Kids boutique. We especially loved how beautifully they styled our mannequins. What a treat!
