Fairfax celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride

The painted crosswalk

Earlier today the Town of Fairfax painted a Progress Pride rainbow in the crosswalk between the Parkade and Peri’s Tavern/My Thai to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride. Artist in Residence, Sharon Virtue helped with painting and the design.

Hand-sewn rainbow flags

Members from our Public Works crew also hung hand-sewn rainbow flags on lamp posts throughout downtown. The flags were sewn by Fairfax resident, Lori Kramer.

Thank you to the Fairfax community and our Public Works team for making our LGBTQ+ celebrations a huge success today!

A very special thank you to Artist in Residence, Stephanie Mohan for photographing this event.

Gun Violence Awareness

Mayor Cutrano has proclaimed the first Friday in June, June 2 as Gun Violence Awareness Day. Next week at the regular Town Council meeting, the Council will present this proclamation to Moms Demand Action and consider a proclamation recognizing the month of June as Gun Violence Awareness Month.

Did you know that Fairfax Police Department provides services to foster gun safety? These services include:

  • We provide free gun locks to Fairfax residents.
  • We will also collect any unwanted weapons from any Fairfax resident. Simply call our office and we will come to your residence to safely collect the firearm.

Residents who submit weapons or ammunition can choose to be anonymous, no questions asked.
