Affordable Connectivity Program
|
|
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides eligible households a discount of up to $30 per month off their internet bills, as well as a one-time discount of up to $100 off an eligible connected device like a laptop, desktop computer or tablet. In many cases, households can get high-speed internet without paying a dime by choosing a fully covered internet plan. A household is eligible to participate in the ACP if a child in the household receives free or reduced-price school meals. There are other ways to be eligible also. Learn more and apply for the ACP at GetInternet.gov.

On Friday, March 10, 2023, twelve WEM 6th-grade students participated in Math Masters, which is a regional math competition held at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. There were 12 teams from the surrounding area with a total of 109 students participating. Students compete in a fact drill to show their fact fluency using order of operations. In addition to their fact drill, they compete in four individual rounds and three team rounds.
This year, Mr. Svendsen and Mrs. Sammon brought two teams to compete, and one of our teams placed first (shown below)! We also had a student place third overall individually, Charlie Denis, pictured above. Congratulations to all of our members as they worked hard to demonstrate their math skills.

Do you feel heard? WEM has an online suggestion box. Please feel free to suggest anything that the WEM School District could do to make your and your students' experience at WEM better!
According to Superintendent Ryan Jensen, "The suggestion box is an attempt to create an opportunity for students, families, and community members to provide input. We want to foster a collaborative environment, and this is one way to allow stakeholders to provide input."
Suggestions are anonymous. There is only one open field in which to type a suggestion and submit it. Anyone who wishes to receive a response should include their name and contact information in that field along with their suggestion. The submissions will be shared with the district administrative team for consideration, along with other staff or board members as appropriate. If you request a response, please be patient and allow the team some time for discussion.
