The Garage Sale on the last Saturday and

Sunday in June was a success.

Sales of the used items came in at $1,734 in total.

Advertising two times in the Mirror helped with the donation of items

and then with selling them for a total larger than previous garage sales.

The cost of the ads was a modest $140.

The Bake Sale brought in $242.

The Hot Dog Sale was so popular that additional supplies were needed right

away and were purchased at full retail cost. Even so the $779 in sales

produced a $180 profit, which will go toward pool table repair.

Garage Sales Organizer Georgia Munro says,

"Thanks to everyone who helped with our successful garage, bake and hot dog sales.

Without all of us working together it would not have been the huge success it was.

Also thank you to everyone including many non-members who supported the Campbell River Seniors Center by donating and purchasing items."

The three racks of clothes in the hallway are free for members.

Changes in the Board of Directors

Maureen Nelson has stepped down from the President's role, but before doing so she confirmed with me that I was ready to step into it. I answered her saying that I was, and I am now the President since the bylaws state the the Vice President "shall assume the Office of President when a vacancy occurs."

I chaired the June 26th meeting of the Board.

At that meeting the Board appointed Georgia Munro as Vice President.

Also at that meeting the Board decided to go to a five-day weekly schedule starting on Tuesday, September 5. The many details to make this happen are being worked out - one very important detail is that new shifts will be available for volunteers.
