Each spring, WCS students fill water bottles with coins and bills to raise money to support orphanages in Haiti and Honduras. Upper School Bible Teacher and Coach, Steve Hawley, who organizes this completely voluntary collection has been passing out the Honduras/Haiti collection bottles throughout the week. Donations will be accepted through the first week of May, but we will always accept them. Students may bring the money-filled bottles back to school to empty it into the class jug every time they fill it.
The color scheme for this year's bottles was chosen by our third graders taught by Mrs. Rivera. The 2025 bottles, yellow with teal lids and white print, will belong to the students at the end of the project.
This ministry has become part of the fabric and tradition of WCS, and we have collected approximately $210,000 since 1998, with every penny going directly to aid two Christian organizations. To learn more about the organizations that benefit, click the following links:
