We had such an incredible Spring at CWNY! Only one year after opening our doors to the public, we have served over 350 participants! We started a Women’s Issues Think Tank where we learn, discuss, and take action on topics such as sexual harassment, equal pay, and health care gender inequities; and participated in resource fairs engaging the community in Ozone Park, Ridgewood, Bayside, and Kew Gardens in partnership with Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, and Queensborough Community College.
Through our Spring programs, we helped women file their taxes and prepare for job interviews, and we started growing our community vegetable garden in our mini green houses. We continue our support groups, yoga classes, ESL class, financial literacy, career, and self-esteem workshops.
During the summer, we will be working on expanding our Fall programming. CWNY will offer new parenting workshops, support groups, a health fair and more.
On Wednesday, June 21st we will say goodbye to Spring and welcome Summer by celebrating International Yoga Day at Noon with a Yoga Class led by certified yoga instructor, Robin Stuelpner, and Meditation led by the Sri Chinmoy Meditation Center.
On Tuesday, June 27th at 6 PM, CWNY will offer a "Rueda" Salsa Lesson and Party at our location, 207 Totten Ave., before a fireworks display in Fort Totten Park. We hope you can join us! There will be snacks available for purchase.
Stay tuned for A Taste of the World at Fort Totten and CWNY's Annual Walk in the Fall.
We are grateful and proud of all CWNY accomplished so far in 2023. We very much look forward to continuing to grow our beautiful and diverse community, as well as our programs and services this year.
