Dear IHSS Providers,



August is a month of new processes, dates and deadlines, and important training opportunities. Read on for the latest news and to learn ways to connect with services to help keep you and your loved ones safe and healthy into summer.

IHSS Career Pathways Training!



California Department of Social Services offers training opportunities to eligible IHSS providers. Trainings cover a variety of topics to enhance provider skills and knowledge. These include: digital literacy, financial literacy, caregiver wellness, diabetic care and nutrition, heart disease and care, nutrition, safety precautions and fall prevention, bathing, dressing and skin care, dementia and Alzheimer’s, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, transfer and mobility equipment, bedrest information, and more.


Eligible providers can:

  • Be compensated for time spent attending and completing training courses and qualify for incentives when completing approved courses
  • Select which trainings to attend and complete as many trainings as desired.
  • Attend trainings in a variety of formats, including in-person, virtual, and self-paced

Additional support is available through the Career Pathways Service Line. An agent can answer questions about Career Pathways and help users navigate the website and course catalog. The Service Line is available Mon-Fri (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. excluding holidays) at 1-866-371-9736.

Timesheets 101



  • English sessions: Tuesdays Aug. 15, Aug. 29, Sept. 12
  • Spanish sessions: Tuesdays Aug. 22, Sept. 5, Sept, 19
  • Time: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Location: 4245 Market St, Suite 213 in Ventura


IHSS providers can have their questions addressed related to timesheets, authorized IHSS hours and how to claim time worked via the Electronic Services Portal or the Telephone Timesheet system. Drop in anytime during the scheduled time and receive 1:1 assistance from staff.


Timesheet trainings will continue to be offered at our Ventura office weekly, every Tuesday, alternating English and Spanish every other Tuesday.

Timesheets 101 is a

drop-in class. You do

not need to register beforehand.

Public Authority Training for IHSS Providers

Public Authority also hosts a series of customized training sessions for our IHSS providers. Please call the Public Authority office for more information or to register for training in advance.

Join us for Laughter Yoga where we will combine laughter with yoga breathing to make exercise fun!


Yoga mats are not required, as exercises are conducted in chairs. 

Effective July 1, 2023, Ventura County In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) providers will receive a wage increase to

$17.75/hour


We are also recruiting for backup providers at $19.75 per hour. You must be enrolled as an IHSS Registry provider to apply. Call 805-654-3416 for information or email HSA-PublicAuthority@ventura.org

Important Reminder: Ventura County has moved from MyBenefitsCalwin to a new system called BenefitsCal.com.

 

ALL Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs and General Relief clients who wish to maintain access to check benefits status or renew their benefits online, report changes, and upload documents must:


1. Go to BenefitsCal.com and select “log In.”

2. Create a new account using your email address.

3. Link your account to your case.

Attention Medi-Cal Members! If your contact information or household circumstances have changed, please update your information today. This may help you keep your Medi-Cal coverage. For more details and to learn how to update your contact information, visit: vchsa.org/medi-cal.


Have Medi-Cal questions? Call a health navigator for free assistance completing any Medi-Cal forms. There is no fee for renewing your Medi-Cal benefits.
