Emerson in full gear!

Student Highlight: Emerson G.

Emerson is dedicated to his favorite sport: hockey. He spends 6 to 9 hours each week at practice and spends time on weekends traveling to and playing in games with his team, The Knights.

Starting at 6 years old, Emerson knew this was the sport for him and has been playing for the past 12 years. He was the first in his family to play hockey, but his other brother also started playing. His family has been supportive, attending as many games as possible.

"Hockey has taught me how to keep my cool and teamwork," Emerson said. He plays both forward and defense on his team, but he likes playing forward the most.

He also enjoys the traveling. He has been to several states including Ohio and Tennessee. Part of the fun of traveling is being with the other members of his team.

His ambition is to play hockey in both college and professionally. He doesn't care what team he plays for. However, his favorite team is the Flames of Calgary, Canada. Perhaps one day he can play for them.

Award Ceremony

On Thursday, May 18, ASOP students and their families are invited to attend the annual Award Ceremony. Every student in grades 4 - 11 will be recognized for their achievements over the past school year.

Chickens Hatched!

This year, Liz' science classes had nine eggs to begin the hatching process. Three chicks survived, bringing joy to all the students and staff, while teaching the students about biology.

VCP Donations Delivered

Over the school year, ASOP held two drives to benefit the Veterans Community Project that provides housing for homeless Vets and services for all Vets. We collected socks in December and hygiene products in February.

Student Council Members Carly, Carmine and Hailey, along with Travis and Ellen, delivered the hygiene products on April 3. Kristin Griffins, who works with community outreach and visited the school in January, took them on a tour of the campus.

Snack Shop Sponsors Chris Cakes

This year the Snack Shop would like to thank all the students and parents who have supported us throughout the year. On May 25 the profits from the sales will be used to give back to the ones who have made this possible.

The Snack Shop will be providing breakfast for students, staff and faculty on our last day of school catered by Chris Cakes. Breakfast will be served from 9:30 to 10:30 am. School will be dismissed at 12:20 pm.

Students involved in the Snack Shop have been preparing a new display for next year that includes a puzzle poster of the items available for sale.
