4th graders at Costaño School of the Arts learning about renewable wind power with Tinkerer Bill Correll

“We had a great time with Mr. Reising’s 4th graders this afternoon! We wrapped up a session on “why do things sink, why do they float". We discussed ship types and how Pacific Islanders put outriggers on their canoes for stability, and how for centuries, people harnessed wind power to travel the oceans. The class built sailboats out of cardboard, corks, straws, popsicle sticks, etc, and powered them across “Mr. Bill’s ocean“ with our air pumps. Lots of fun and lots of interdisciplinary learning!”

Thanks to you, our generous REF community, Ravenswood students, families, and educators are ready to sail into a new year of joyful, meaningful learning! We are so grateful for your continued gifts of time, talent, and treasure in service of equitable learning experiences and outcomes across our community. Looking forward to deepening our partnership and impact together in 2023!

Happy New Year!
