HECK JONES OFFERING

Our emphasis for this year’s Heck Jones offering is on the basics of life, food, and shelter. The namesakes for this offering were about basics in the 1800s as original members of this church. If you enter the sanctuary through the gathering room, you will see their portraits on the wall. We continue their timely legacy when we give of our abundance to help those who struggle to find food and proper shelter, both around the globe and right here in our own community. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 for these worthy non-profits doing the work of feeding and housing our neighbors. Please give prayerfully and generously to this offering in support of these life-changing organizations.
RISE Against Hunger • $4,000
We hope you will join us Sunday, September 17 in Fellowship Hall after worship for our annual meal packaging event. RAH is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable. The 10,000 meals we pack this year will bring our church record to 100,000 meals.
Habitat for Humanity of Wake County • $3,000
Through our work with the Downtown Faith Coalition, we will be helping provide affordable housing right here in our community. Habitat is a non-profit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. Families build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgages. As the housing crisis grows in Wake County, Habitat's work continues to make the biggest impact.
ONE Wake • $3,000
ONE Wake is a non-partisan, multi-racial, multi-issue group of religious congregations, associations, and other non-profits in the Wake County area. ONE Wake is about people: developing their innate skills and ability to work with each other to identify common problems, to find or create solutions, and to work together to implement systemic changes within society to achieve the common good.
THIRTY-NINERS LUNCH

The Thirty-Niners senior group will gather this Thursday, June 15, at Captain Stanley’s Calabash Seafood (3333 S Wilmington Street). We have reservations in the Carroll Room for 11am. Meet at church at 10:30am to ride the church bus.
DINNER & A SHORT FILM

On Wednesday, June 21, from 67:30pm, we will be hosting a showing of Patrick Nichols' film Palm Sunday in the fellowship hall. We'll kick off the evening with a pizza dinner, followed by the film showing and a time of discussion. Patrick will be joining us, and we look forward to hearing more about the process of producing and telling this story. Palm Sunday won the Best Film award at the Columbia University Film Festival. It was chosen from 43 submissions of master's thesis projects by a panel of film critics and others in the industry. If you are able to join us for dinner, please RSVP by emailing Deborah. The cost is our normal Wednesday evening price, $6 for adults and $4 for children. Childcare is available for babies through 2nd graders on a pre-registration basis. Please let Lynn Lingafelt know no later than tomorrow, June 14!
THEOLOGY ON TAP

Please note: Theology on Tap will not gather in June but will resume again on July 20 at Clouds Brewing.
LET'S PLAY BALL!

Our very own church league softball team is hard at work, and they're ready for you to see them play! Made up of 19 folks, the team plays games until early June at the Millbrook Exchange park on field #2, located at 1905 Spring Forest Road.
