MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Hello Everyone,
Traditions, traditions, traditions! That is what students love about IS. Last Friday was Déjeuner en Blanc, and this week you will see cars parked all over the parking lot and lawn—a tradition for the 11th grade. The 12th-grade graduation is marked by traditions such as the senior celebration, and now the 8th-grade parents are also endeavoring to establish a tradition for the 8th graders. I love the motivation behind all these traditions from staff, students, and parents. Thank you to each and every one of you for creating a great community at IS and for perpetuating our traditions.
Thank you,

CONGRATULATIONS TO RENUKA GETCHELL OUR 2022-2023 ISPTSA GOLDEN ACORN RECIPIENT!
Renuka Getchell is an invaluable asset to our International School Community. Her wealth of historical knowledge and awareness of current events is truly remarkable. She generously volunteers in the school office on a regular basis and actively contributes to our Drama program. Additionally, Renuka serves as a trustee for the Bellevue Schools Foundation (BSF) and acts as the ISPTSA BSF ambassador. Her exceptional design skills were instrumental in creating the invite, catalog, and name tags for the 2023 Auction. Moreover, she has made significant contributions as a member of Bellevue Quality Schools.
The ISPTSA is immensely grateful to Renuka for her unwavering dedication and her difficulty in saying 'no' when asked for help. Her ever-ready smile and willingness to lend a hand are truly commendable. Thank you, Renuka, for your tremendous efforts in supporting our children, our school, and our community. You continue to amaze us! Find out more about the Golden Acorn Award here. Questions? Email the Golden Acorn Committee.

NATIONAL PTA URGES CONGRESS TO END GUN VIOLENCE AND RESTORE THE FEDERAL ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN
May 24 marked one year after the tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde County, Texas that claimed the lives of 19 children and two educators. School communities continue to face the daily threat of gun violence and far too many communities and families nationwide are forever altered due to the trauma caused by similar events.
We can no longer wait for Congress to act; NOW is the time to protect America’s children and families from the trauma of bearing witness to, or being injured in violent events involving assault-style weapons designed for military use when students should feel the safest while in school.

CONGRATULATIONS, ZAIRA!
At the end of each season the tennis coaches vote on players they feel had an excellent season. It's an honor to be picked by all the coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own players. These are not "real" teams, but a way to recognize players.
Congratulations go out to Zaira Ganga for making it on both the Singles and Doubles lists. For singles, Zaira made the #2 team. Only 4 players are picked for both the #1 team and #2 team. Zaira also made the #1 team with her partner, Emily Wang (Bellevue High School), in which only 3 doubles teams were picked. If you see Zaira, congratulate her! Questions? Contact Phyllis Gill, Head Tennis Coach, Bellevue High School.

LOST AND FOUND LAST CALL!
Parents! Students! Everyone! Please examine these photos closely for your lost items! This is our last chance to try to unite lost items with their owners before we donate or dispose of them at the end of the school year. All of these items are currently in the front office – just stop in and let us know what belongs to you.
|
|
In addition to our smaller lost items that we have in the office, there are two more areas to find and claim your missing goods! We have jackets-a-plenty hanging in the commons area. We also have a table chock full of water bottles, food containers, bags, and more. Please have your students check these areas, or come in and peruse for yourself. At the end of the school year, we will donate all unclaimed lost and found items. Questions? Contact Kyla Carlson.
