Government Relations Update
Our lobbyist has been working with Dan Hereth, the recently appointed Secretary of the Department of Safety and Professional Services, to help resolve issues with delays in processing licensing applications for our members. There have been many delays and backlogs over the last couple of years with licensing processing. We are hopeful that under new leadership DSPS will be able to resolve these issues. If you are having an issue, please let Jeffrey Montoya know and we can
get your information to our lobbyist. Jeffrey can be reached at jeffamtawi@gmail.com.

We are currently monitoring progress with the interstate licensing compact. This effort by The Council of State Governments (CSG), the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) will allow massage therapists who are licensed in a compact member state to apply for a multistate license. We would like to see Wisconsin join the compact; however, this will require the passing of legislation. AMTA-WI is prepared to work with our credentialing board and lawmakers to help Wisconsin pass the needed legislation to participate in this important initiative for our profession.
National Convention Experience
The National Convention was a great experience for me. In addition to the great education I was able to attend and the wonderful opportunity to meet and network with colleagues from around the country, I was able to serve our profession in my volunteer role of Moderator-Elect of the Chapter President's Council (CPC). The CPC is a gathering of the 51 Chapter Presidents from around the country (each state and Washington DC) to share insights and ideas and discuss issues facing our chapters and profession.  I was also able to celebrate our new chapter presidents with our annual pinning ceremony. Over half of our chapter presidents were new to their role, including our own Wisconsin Chapter President, Dr. Heather Thom. After completing the year as Moderator-Elect, I move into the role of Moderator for 2023 working with the new Moderator-Elect, Crystal Mapp from Missouri. Over the next year Crystal and I will work to shape the agenda for the 2023 CPC meeting.

Delegate Corner
Greetings from Kathy & Martha. We are grateful for the opportunity to represent AMTA-WI
chapter members. This column will be used monthly to keep you informed on topics that are
being discussed on the national level and to ask for your opinions and feedback.

Greetings from Martha Karban
Massage Therapy is my encore career. What I thought would be a hobby turned into an absolute
passion for the profession. Collaborating with other therapists, continuing education
opportunities and serving my clients has been more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined.
Volunteering has always been an integral part of my life, so when asked 7 years ago to help the
education committee plan an event in Wisconsin Rapids I started my journey with Wisconsin
AMTA. Planning events was a big part of my prior career and was a very comfortable place to
begin volunteering. After a few years I was elected to the AMTA-WI Board, and in May of
2022 was elected to a two year term as a Delegate for our chapter. My private practice is located in Marinette.

Greetings from Kathy Ginn
I have been active in the field of massage therapy and bodywork since 1991 as a practitioner,
teacher and mentor. I have been an AMTA member since 2002. I began my service with AMTA
as a continuing education provider both locally and nationally in 2003. I served with the National
AMTA teacher development committee and as an Ethics consultant to the WI Chapter. I am the
creative force behind 4Rivers Center for Well Being in Oconomowoc where I have the
opportunity to be in private practice while working along-side fellow colleagues. I offer Ethics
Continuing Education, Self Leadership coaching - mentoring and Practice Development courses.
I taught at the curriculum level for the past 24 years. I am the author of, The Soul of Ethical
Service – a transformational approach to Ethics education.
I love teaching and inspiring others to find passion and joy in your vocation while offering your
best self to the world. My passion and dedication is to serve the world with the gifts I have been
given. I live a quiet and simple life with my husband Tom. I love nature, quiet, solitude and
simplicity. I enjoy yoga, hot saunas, hiking, reading and writing.

Our role as your Delegates is to represent the massage therapy profession in the Assembly of
Delegates (AOD) on the national level, and other activities as they relate to the profession in Wisconsin.
We attend the AOD meeting annually at the National Convention which in 2023 is in Phoenix,
Arizona, August 24-26.
During the remainder of the year we meet virtually through the Delegate Forum and provide
input in discussions pertinent to the massage therapy profession in Wisconsin.
We discuss AOD updates with our Chapter President and the Board, and at least one of us will
attend every Chapter committee meeting to keep up to date.
We look forward to seeing you in person at our up-coming Anatomy Trains Class in Milwaukee,
November 12 & 13 and at the AMTA-WI License Renewal Convention in Oshkosh January 20-
22, 2023.
Our time together has a beautiful ripple effect. We learn together, we grow together and we share
our unique gifts together. We touch so many - together. Bring a friend, a non-member or come
by yourself to our Chapter events. We look forward to getting to know you!
