Lane Channel

Construction at the Lane Channel along southbound SR-55 between Dyer Road and MacArthur Boulevard is progressing! In the photo, contractors built forms, poured concrete, and installed rebar for the channel invert system. These activities along with excavation work will continue through early summer.

Electric and Drainage

During daytime and nighttime hours, contractors continue to install or relocate electrical and drainage facilities along both directions of SR-55.

Girders Installed at MacArthur Boulevard Bridge

We appreciate the public's patience while crews successfully installed girders at the MacArthur Boulevard Bridge earlier this week.

Please be advised that this work may be loud. Dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather.

The Project will improve four freeway bridges, which involves demolishing the concrete barriers on the sides of the bridges, as well as constructing new walls and bridge columns. 

This graphic illustrates the construction sequence for each bridge. To minimize the impacts on the public and local traffic, contractors are focused on the MacArthur Boulevard and Edinger Avenue bridges this year. Construction on the railroad bridge will also begin this summer. In 2024, crews will shift their attention to the Dyer Road bridge once MacArthur and Edinger bridges are done.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
