Our Focus: Brittany Gordon, Paraprofessional at Study Alternative Center

"I like being a para. I like that I’m able to make a real impact because I can have more of a personalized experience with each student, and those students have underlying reasons why they’ve struggled before. When I work with students at Study, they may have faced many challenges that put barriers in place for them to overcome. It may be hard for them to gain those different skills and concepts they need. But I can work with them to fill in any gaps that they may have, even if it’s an adult who they can talk to or someone who can help them with an assignment. I’m here to help with whatever they need.

Being a paraprofessional is a gateway to education. In this job, I get to see the lens of a teacher and see what they do on a day-to-day basis, as well as what the student is going through. But Study is a special place. I fell in love with their mission and vision for their students and all the resources that are given to the students. I love being a part of a team that makes such a big impact. It’s important to help students in their education but also prepare them for life after high school, and at Study, our personal relationships with students equip them to overcome big challenges to achieve big goals."
