Museum of Bad Art: DoppleHangers
There's still room to join us via Zoom as Curator in Chief Michael Frank of the Museum of Bad Art shares this collection of efforts that capture (or try to capture) the likenesses of politicians, favorite entertainers, or historic figures. Some of these pieces have even accidentally ended up portraying faces we recognize.

What's Happening in Children's?
A New Parents Network Group
Another month, another new program for our youngest patrons and their parents: our New Parents Network! Would you like to share ideas and know-how with other new parents? Could you use some insight from a professional with years of experience coaching new parents? Then come to these programs, where you can meet your peers and, with the help of facilitator Sheryl White, explore approaches to understanding and caring for your new baby. Topics include “Who Needs Sleep?” on May 18, “As Your Baby Grows” on May 25, and “Keep Calm & Parent On!” on June 15 & 22. All sessions begin at 10am and will allow plenty of time for chatting, learning, and enjoying each other’s stories and company.

We’re also launching a new program for ages 2-5, “On the Move!” – not quite a storytime, not quite a dance party, but the best of both. It’s a chance for your active little ones to enjoy a read-aloud and then dance, hop, spin, and shake off some of their energy! And don’t forget about our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative for this age group, too – we’re delighted to see so many caregivers and kids enjoying this incentive to read together and lay a strong foundation for children’s future success as readers. Come by the Children’s Department to learn more about this fun and enriching opportunity!

For kids of all ages, we’ll have a Star Wars Scavenger Hunt set up in the Children’s Department (May 4-7) in honor of Star Wars Day – come try your luck, and May the Fourth be with You!

As ever, throughout the month we’ll also have our usual variety of preschool programs, storytimes (including a bilingual program), science sessions, LEGO and game programs, and craft clubs – keep an eye on the Children’s Department calendar and Facebook page to learn about these and other upcoming programs!

Happy May, and Happy Reading!
