Staying Community

Focused!

Hello, Knightdale! Spring is still buzzing, and so are we here in Knightdale. I'm so excited about the many positive things going on around town. I wanted to share just a few things going on with our citizens and community.

Stars Rise in Eastern Wake County!

The East Wake Education Foundation recently held their "Stars in the East" talent show. This event is held every March to showcase kids in our local schools. It was a great, very well-attended event, and I was honored to serve as one of the emcees for the evening.

I was joined by the Mayor of Wendell, Virginia Gray; Wake County School Board Member Cheryl Caulfield; Glen York, Mayor of Zebulon; East Wake High School Principal, Stacey Alston; and Wake County Commissioner Don Mial. I hope we can all do it again next year!

Knightdale Celebrates

Arbor Day!

I'm so excited that Knightdale has been chosen as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for the 22nd time!

The Town recognized Arbor Day on March 23 this year, and the event coincided with our Creek Week celebration. Among the events, we had a tree planting ceremony with citizens and town employees. We value our environment and this event as a part of the Sustainable objective of our Strategic Plan, and I look forward to continuing to be recognized as a Tree City USA in the years to come.

Thanks to Donna Goodman with Development Services and Ike Archer with our Stormwater team for their leadership in this venture.

Women's Leadership Abounds

in Wake County

I was recently asked to be on a panel at the Women's Leadership Conference, sponsored by the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce. It was such an enlightening event and show of women empowerment!

Being in the room with over 250 women in leadership was so inspiring! We had many opportunities to support each other, share ideas, and learn strategies to take back and be better leaders in our communities. I was fortunate to be on one of the panels, as was the President of the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce, Chinyere Ulasi. The keynote speaker was Jamie Valvano, daughter of revered coach Jim Valvano, aka "Jimmy V." She. was. AMAZING.

A special thanks goes to Knightdale resident Dr. Angie Arrington, who coordinated the event. Excellent job!

Small Business is BIG Business

in Knightdale!

I always say that Knightdale is a shining star in eastern Wake County, and that is evident in the new businesses coming to our town. We recently welcomed two to the area, and I'm very excited about having them in Knightdale.

Rewind Retrobar, located on First Avenue, is both a blast from the past and a future-forward good time. The business presents a nostalgic vibe with a fun-themed drink menu. The location will allow for a night out to socialize, play retro games, watch nostalgia shows and movies, and listen to great music.

We also welcomed LizzuLu Flowers, located on McKnight Drive. LizzyLu is a family-owned business that offers houseplants, rare plants, arrangements, soil, care items, baskets, DIY soil, and more.

I'm so excited to see both of these businesses thrive in Knightdale, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for both of them!

Upcoming Events

I hope you can join me at the following Town events!

Latin American Festival

We in Knightdale are so grateful for our Latin community members, and our Latin American Festival will celebrate those citizens, their culture and the many contributions they give to our town. I hope you'll join me for a great afternoon of fun!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about anything going on in our amazing town of Knightdale!
