Today, civic participation occurs at many levels. We make impactful decisions about our community every time we make a purchase, vote, post on social media and, of course, volunteer. We think any awareness we can bring to the many resources that might spur individual action for good, falls right in line with what we’re up to at HandsOn.

Welcome Our New Staff!

We are excited to welcome

Ariel Gutman-Gates to the HandsOn Greater Phoenix team!

Ariel is joining us as the Service Project Coordinator. In this role, he will be leading the Veterans Assistance Program in working with volunteers to improve veteran homes across the Valley. As well as helping to facilitate large-scale corporate service projects.

Ariel is excited to be entering this role and making a difference in the Phoenix community!

Trees in School Bill Passed

Due to the hard work of our partner organization, Trees Matter and other AZ nonprofits, the Trees for Kids Bill was passed to grant $300,000 to plant trees at AZ public schools.

We're excited about their efforts as HandsOn has planted hundreds of trees at Valley schools as part of our school makeover projects. Together, let's keep planting trees on school playgrounds!

Juneteenth

Our Country's Second Independence Day

June 19, 1865 marks the anniversary of the last group of enslaved black people to be granted freedom by executive order in Galveston Bay, Texas.

Juneteenth is a day to celebrate the history and triumphs of the African American community. Check out the different ways to celebrate around the Valley.
