We just wrapped up spring break week at FPTV and the kid energy was high! It’s so joyful to see their happy faces especially as the kiddos participate in our “Stay and Play” activities designed to bring spring break fun to the shelter. One 4th grade kiddo stood outside my office door and told me he was excitedly waiting for Lego night to begin—5 hours later! What a gift to be able to share with the 80+ children in shelter. All of our staff was also caught up in the excitement, planning brightly colored clothing to wear on Wednesday’s “Glow Day.” It’s weeks like this that bring relief and hope for the future to so many of our families. A huge THANK YOU to all of the donors, volunteers and staff who made Stay and Play happen last week!

The vibrant colors and aromas of Spring are here, marking the time of new beginnings and fresh starts here at FPTV. We are rolling out client-driven mental health and substance use services on site, which means FPTV guests play an important role in the brainstorming and planning process of the programming. Additionally, our Financial Beginnings curriculum launches in April. The coursework empowers families to manage their finances effectively for the long term. Thanks to your support, we can provide supplies for these programs such as workbooks and notebooks. Your contributions also allow us to bring in financial experts to lead the courses. Thank you for making this programming possible!

As part of their spring service project, the freshmen class at Riverdale High School completed 100 activity kits for the children at Bridge to Home. Special thanks to Keri Ann G., Riverdale office assistant, for coordinating the project and tailoring the kits to five different age levels. The engaging kits provided hours of enjoyment during spring break.

The delight was evident with smiles and laughter of families in our program during spring break week. We are thankful for the financial contributions and volunteer efforts of many of our supporters that allowed us to offer this invaluable programming to our guests.

“Volunteers are paid in six figures - S-M-I-L-E-S.”

Please join our volunteer team and bring smiles to our guests, staff, and your fellow volunteers. In turn, we hope your experience will bring you joy.

Recent quotes from our volunteers:

“Coco Club is the highlight of my week! Thank you both for all that you do to bring programming like this :)”

“Such a great experience for both of us. My daughter and I try to do as much volunteering as we can and have been to many places over the years. We both agreed, this was one of our favorites, and we will be back for sure!”

Please contact Gina at gina@familypromiseoftv.org to learn how you can help. All volunteers need to complete two training modules which cover trauma-informed care guidelines. This training is conveniently available online 24/7 and takes approximately two hours to complete.

Lego night, a visit from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue Firefighters, Kona Ice truck, bowling passes, movie night, music night, and a show by the Oregon Reptile Man were highlights for guests at FPTV. Providing this incredible level of programming was an enormous group effort on behalf of the 80 plus children at Bridge to Home. Many thanks to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, The Oregon Reptile Man, Riverdale High School, The Newcomers Club of Lake Oswego, Westover Inns, Susan Muhm, and Paris Hancock. Special thanks to Karen Emerson and Carol Greenough for their incredible generosity and commitment to enrichment programming for children at FPTV. We couldn’t agree more with a statement of appreciation from a father in our program, “You guys rock! What you offer is pretty amazing. It is so special!” Our volunteers and supporters absolutely do rock, and it is amazing. We are so thankful!
