Throughout the months of June and July, you can spend $150 at Historic Downtown Perry’s restaurants and bars and earn a $25 Downtown Dollars gift card!
To receive the $25 Downtown Dollars gift card, you must provide itemized receipts totaling at least $150, not including tax, tips, or gift card purchases from downtown restaurants and bars.
The program will run from June 1 – July 31, 2023, or until funds are depleted.

2023 Spring Cleanup Stats | |
The City of Perry Spring Cleanup happened April 10 - 14 for the
City’s residential customers!
The Spring Cleanup program invites residents to get rid of some
items that are normally not hauled off by the standard trash service.
Several tons of debris and tires were collected throughout the week!

A Friendly Reminder from Your Friends at Public Works...
The Department of Public Works would like to remind everyone to break down cardboard into the toter for recycling OR stack it off to the side of toters for pickup.
We ask that cardboard is not placed between the cans.

A New Resource for Trash Pickup Updates | |
The City now has a resource for updates regarding trash
pickup schedules.
If your trash or recycling appears to be missed on your scheduled
pickup day, you can now check our website the following business
day for any updates on route delays.
If you believe your trash has been missed, please call Public Works at
(478) 988-2729 so the webpage can be updated with the most recent information.

Perry Fire Department April 2023 Stats | |
The Perry Fire Department is a 2 station department that
contains a staff of firefighters providing fire protection, emergency
medical services, technical rescue operations, fire safety education,
fire cause investigation, and fire code inspections to a population of approx.
23,000 over 28.5 square miles.

The platform was developed with the latest AI-driven chatbot technology,
allowing the City to automate and scale its customer service efforts to
help with the day-to-day needs of both staff and users.
Users can also report issues including potholes, missed trash pickups,
and more all through an interactive chatbot that responds immediately to
a user’s text message.

Citizens Police Academy - Now Accepting Applications! | |
The Perry Police Department is accepting applications for this year’s Citizens Police Academy.
This 12-week program gives participants an opportunity to understand the responsibilities and challenges within the law enforcement profession.
The academy begins June 12 and will meet at the Public Safety Building located at 1207 Washington Street.
Applicant Requirements:
- Minimum age: 20 years old
- Resident of Houston County
- Complete an application including other waiver forms
- Program fee: $28.00
The program will include a firearms safety instruction class. Applicants will need to provide their own weapons, ammo, and eye/ear protection.
Program completion is not the equivalent of completing the Mandate Training Academy for sworn law enforcement officers. The program is for civilian education only.

Don't Become A Victim Informational Session | |
The Perry Police Department is hosting a “Don’t Become A Victim”
information session on June 8 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the James
E. Worrall Center.
Participants will identify common scams and how to avoid becoming a
victim. Topics include identity theft, check and credit card fraud, email,
internet, and phone scams.
The information session is free for Perry and Houston County residents.
Pre-registration is required.
The James E. Worrall Center is located at 1060 Keith Drive in Perry.

City of Perry Safety Committee | |
The purpose of the City of Perry Safety Committee is to help
provide a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors!
The safety committee consists of a mixed population to represent
each City department. Members were selected to actively contribute to
identifying problems and working towards solutions as well as communicating
to and from their departments.
At each meeting, the team will review reported prior period safety
incidents, accidents or near-misses, and get up to date safety practices to
share with their departments.
The committee consists of April Minchew, Mirian Arrington, Lulu Herrera,
Suzi Ortiz, Kerri Avia, Amy Harmon, Angie Summer, Cody Gunn, Thomas Schonau, Darryl Kitchens, Chris Sutcliff, and Jenny Burdeshaw.
City of Perry Fire Marshal, Darryl Kitchens, leads the safety committee
as the Safety Chairperson. He will lead the safety committee and in his
current role, ensuring safety and physical security of all operations, responding
to all emergency situations to provide initial management and coordination of the emergency, and using all of the emergency management infrastructure including all physical emergency equipment.
