Dear Colleagues,
As we make our way into the holiday season, we wanted to pause to give thanks to you, for your steadfast pursuit of knowledge and understanding, for your collaboration, and for being outstanding peers who make UCSF a great place to do research. In this month’s edition, we’d like to highlight a few career development opportunities like the AIDS Research Institute Diversity Scholars Program and the Marcus Program in Precision Medicine Innovation (MPPMI). There is also a great opportunity to interview with trainees at the postbaccalaureate stage who are interested in pursuing a career in research and qualify for funding through the NIH Diversity Supplement mechanism at the Diversity Supplement Matchmaking Event. And as usual, we congratulate all our colleagues for their successes in their research as we highlight their grants below.
Wishing you all good health and success.
All the best,
Diane and David

New NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy | |
Effective January 25, 2023, prospective NIH grant and contract applications will be required to include a two-page data management and sharing plan outlining how scientific data will be managed and shared. Although many are already sharing summary level data, for example with clinical journals, the new policy requires sharing of individual participant-level data. The NIH is hosting a webinar series about the new policy; visit https://sharing.nih.gov/about/learning to view videos and slide decks.
The below resources are available now to assist teams in preparing to apply for NIH grants beginning in January 2023:
In addition, we are gathering budgetary examples for common study scenarios and hope to share this with you next month. Meanwhile, for questions about the new policy, contact Data Services Librarian Ariel Deardorff.
