Yom Kippur: A Day Like Purim?

The Book of Esther is replete with hidden messages. While the Name of God is never used, He works behind the scenes devising plans of salvation, atonement, and most importantly, stretching the message of salvation and atonement to cover the first fruits from among the nations. The prophetic nature of many Torah portions dramatically unfold in the establishment of Esther's feast, Purim. The full narrative of Joseph's life in Genesis is even repeated in the Book of Esther, along with the Yom Kippur service and the instructions concerning the annulment of vows. This study removes many of the masks of Purim, but more importantly, it will reveal the bigger plan of prophecy that unlocks understanding of the future. Oh No! Is that an easter egg on the Seder Plate?

Have you ever wondered how the modern seder plate grew from the minimal Passover requirements of the Torah?

Creation Gospel Workbook Six is divided into two parts: an explanation of the daily prayer called the Amidah, and a second section explaining the commandments and growth of the Passover seder. It guides the reader through the Scriptural growth of the feast to the "New Testament" era, and where more modern (and geographically diverse) customs emerged.

Before the Temple was destroyed, many poor families did include an egg in their Passover celebration meal, but it didn't represent the sacrifice in the Temple. What did it mean? Read to find out!

Hebrew Prayer and Worship Traditions

Still Thinking About That Egg on the Seder Plate?

Readers of the Newer Testament can find its treatment of tradition confusing. Many of the customs in its pages are Jewish, and therefore foreign to non-Jewish believers. Yeshua (Jesus) sometimes corrected those observing religious customs, yet at other times he said they should have observed them. Paul does the same in his letters, and twice he instructs non-Jewish believers to keep the Jewish customs he passed on to them.

Among believers in Yeshua today, some enjoy incorporating tradition into their worship. Some dismiss all customs as “man-made,” and therefore extraneous at best or the sin “adding to” the written Word at worst. There is a way to determine the relationship of the written Word to tradition, for the Word would not leave us without comfort or our feast gatherings in confusion on such an important question.

A careful examination of Yeshua’s instructions lifts a nuance that is frequently lost in discussions of truth and tradition. The first step is to identify whether that tradition is a Truth, Tradition, or Tare?

PRE-ORDER!

Scorpions Ascent is an action-packed young adult novel that blends Iron Age archaeology with the thrill of adventure.

Tzakhi dreads being apprenticed to the smelting fires of King Solomon’s mines, but when his father is kidnapped, he has the opportunity to rescue him and demonstrate that he already has a different set of skills.

Tzakhi’s father Nachshon is steward over the mines of the Arava, and Tzakhi’s older half brothers serve the fires. Tzakhi loves working with the animals of the caravansary at Tamar and learning desert craft from Captain Avi-dan, commander of the Tamar fortress.

When his father is kidnapped for his metallurgical skill by Hadad, Tzakhi tracks the kidnappers. A Torah teacher known only as The Levite gives Tzakhi a sword and a blessing that the ancient hornet of Moses go before him.

Tzakhi finds the raiders’ camp at the suspected Mt. Sinai. Can Tzakhi use desert craft and the lessons he learned from Avi-dan and The Levite to cut them down?

Scorpions Ascent takes a thriller turn, showing readers how the imagination and faith of the young can carve out solutions.

Thank you all for praying and/or donating to the work at LaMalah Children's Home in Kenya. Second-quarter funds have been wired. Brother Ndungu is pricing some enhancements to the existing security fence, which is doing fine at keeping out human predators, but not the monkeys! He reports that they seem to know exactly when the maize is ripe, and they dig up the sweet potatoes.

We do have a need for additional funds for the Kenyan fellowships to celebrate Passover.

If you feel led to help with the operating expenses of LaMalah, you can always use the Paypal donate button below, Zelle (for Zelle, use creationgospel@gmail.com, and email us your contact information if you desire a year-end donation statement), or send a check by snail mail to:

2025 Sukkot Tour

Stories of the Promised Land

Hosted by Dr. Hollisa Alewine

with Coordinator Kisha Gallagher

Tour Dates: October 5 - 19, 2025

$3,395 (airfare not included)

The Sukkot tour of 2025 will be a special one. Our last tour ended on October 7th, 2023, and because of that day, no one who loves the Land of Israel will ever be the same. The Sukkot tour of 2025 will be our declaration, like Joshua and Caleb, that the Land is a good land, and it will supply our every need if we have faith in the One Who promised it to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

While the servants of the Most High can only bring earthly gifts to Him, it is because of that most precious gift that He responds with great spiritual gifts. An act of faith in coming to the Land of Israel takes a lot of natural resources, but our Father will pour out from His infinite spiritual wealth. Every trip to the Land yields an important lesson learned, a splendid revelation, or a peaceful sense of belonging and coming home. No amount of money can buy these things, yet all the Father asks is a step of faith in the direction of the Land He watches over.

Each location on our tour has been selected to tell the ancient stories of Israel in such a way that the ancient stories become our story. We are the living sequels, and walking in the steps of the patriarchs and matriarchs of our faith allows us to hear what they heard, see what they saw, smell what they smelled, taste what they tasted, and touch what they touched on their journeys. We can’t wait to hear the stories you will tell after this tour!

Each stop will make Scripture come alive through interacting with Israelis, learning the geology, geography, history, archaeology, plants, animals, architecture, weather patterns, agriculture, and many other details that contribute to our understanding of the Biblical stories we read. The Bible will take on increasing layers of living color, forever enriching time spent in study. Join us at Sukkot and become part of the story of Israel.
