God's Call for Hope: A Reflection in the Face of Darkness
By Joe McDaniel, Jr., co-chair of the Commission on Racial Justice and Reconciliation
As we approach Good Friday, a day that marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, it is a poignant reminder of the profound themes of suffering, sacrifice, and ultimately, hope. In the midst of darkness and despair, the Christian faith offers an unparalleled perspective on hope—a belief that transcends circumstances and speaks to the heart of human experience. God's call for us to be hopeful, even in the bleakest of times, echoes throughout Scripture and stands as a beacon for believers grappling with life's challenges.
Throughout the Bible, hope is consistently presented as an anchor for the soul. In the face of adversity, the Lord reminds us of His unwavering presence and the promise of redemption.

Living in View of the Resurrection Easter Retreat
Saturday, May 17, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saloom Properties, 2835 Bookers Mill Rd, Evergreen, AL
Living in View of the Resurrection: a retreat at Chapel of Divine Creation led by the Rev. Marshall Craver and Dr. Salem Saloom.
The Doctrine of the Resurrection is a core tenet of the Christian faith but: what do we really mean when we say that we believe in the resurrection, and what difference does such belief make in how we live out this life, is there a way in which our belief in the resurrection can grow and deepen? Come and join us as we explore these questions and more! By viewing the resurrection through the eyes of Thomas, who needed to know for himself that Jesus was alive, and Peter, who had breakfast with the risen Lord on the shore of Galilee, and Mary, who standing by the tomb thought he was the gardener, we will have our own fresh encounters with the Risen Christ! Come and be surprised by the realness of the Paschal Mystery in your “ordinary” day-to-day life!

Slay the Stigma of Mental Health: For Youth and Those Who Love Them
Wednesdays, April 30, May 7, and May 14, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Holy Cross, 7979 N 9th Ave, Pensacola
It’s tough being a teen today. Sure, the statistics itemize the troubles, but our youth are the experts. They live the stress of balancing school, social media, home life, and all the personal interactions that come in a single day.
The Diocesan Mental Health Alliance will present a three-part series intended to destigmatize mental health concerns among youth, their parents, and those who love them. Attendees will receive tips, methods, and hard-core facts that can be deployed right away. Youth will learn (and
share) strategies via games, role-playing, and discussion. Adults and teens will learn the same information, sometimes together and sometimes in the large group.
Intended to take the place of Wednesday night programming, all churches are invited to join together to learn from our experts and each other through silly and serious discussions on how to bolster teens’ mental health.
