MESSAGE FROM FR. JEFF

Hello everybody!

With all the busyness and stress of our lives, at least for me, I often feel like I’m just riding the current. I can even feel that way sometimes about the liturgical year as it changes seasons or we celebrate feasts. Here we go! Holy Week, however, is an invitation to go deeper, to go below the current. We take time to ponder and contemplate, in all its many facets, the Paschal Mystery. God is the God who, having embraced death, brings new life. The love we find deep within testifies that sin and death are not the victors. Love conquers all. I encourage you this Holy Week to participate in our services and go below the busy current to find that truth within.

Our schedule for the Triduum and Easter is below. With our school in classes this week, a “Holy Hush” will settle in on our campus on Good Friday. It’s a reminder to allow silent reverence to enter our day and our liturgical celebrations for both the beginning of the Divine Mercy Novena (for more info, please watch this video https://youtu.be/Pe1vZG6CEXA) and our Good Friday service. The New Fire will be lit for the Easter Vigil at 8:30 p.m. on Holy Saturday. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday morning, a shuttle service will help people get from the lower lot to the church at both masses. If needed, overflow will be in Schindler Hall. There will not be a 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening mass. The Parish Office will also be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

May God take you deeper into the mystery of his suffering, death, and resurrection this Easter to find love, new life, and true freedom. God bless you!

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Staff Spotlight

Lynne Marshall, Director of Engagement

What is something people do not know about you?

I am a baseball fan! My husband, John, and two sons, Tyler and Brett, all played baseball at the University of Kentucky.

What is your favorite scripture or prayer and why?

1 Corinthians 16:14

"Let all that you do be done in love."

We should be motivated by love. It's not always easy and difficulties are inevitable, but it is through the worst of times, Jesus dying on the cross to save us, that we experience the greatest love of all.

What do you love most about your ministry/serving at St. Patrick?

I love people! And people are the church. In some ways, ministry is a lot like marriage...you love, sacrifice and serve the body of Christ. It is a great blessing in my life to work with the good people of St. Patrick.
