Barker Elementary Hosts Career Day

Barker Elementary School recently hosted an exciting Career Day welcoming wonderful guests to highlight many jobs including policeman, fireman, doctor, nurse, realtor, Disney cast member, and more. A special thank you to Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones who shared with Barker scholars what it means to be mayor. We love seeing our students inspired on their journey to lifelong success (Goal 3) by wonderful professionals who all make important contributions to our community!


GGUSD Cook Named Finalist for OC Classified Employee of the Year

A SWEET SURPRISE: Recently, GGUSD Superintendent, Dr. Gabriela Mafi, surprised Connie Flores, the wonderful cook/baker at Garden Grove High School, to share the great news that Connie was named a Finalist in the Orange County Classified Employee of the Year Program! This is a well-deserved honor as Connie prepares over 1,000 meals each day at GGHS and serves as the catering chef for the Apple Cart Café at the district office. Connie is known for her positive can-do attitude, excellent customer service skills, and her flavorful meals. During her visit, Dr. Mafi spent time helping out in the kitchen!

GGUSD Highlights CTE Summer Internship Program

GGUSD high school students who participate in Career Pathway courses are also offered an internship experience the summer of their junior year of high school. Following a rigorous interview process, students are placed with an employer and spend their summer interning in the field, gaining real-world skills in a variety of industries aligned to their CTE pathways of study. Santiago High School Student Recognized with Leadership Award

GGUSD congratulates Jasmin Galindo, a senior at Santiago High School, for recently receiving the “Every Student Succeeding Award” from the Association of California School Administrators, or ACSA Region 17. This award is presented to students statewide who have demonstrated resilience in the face of obstacles to achieve success! Jasmin was recognized among other "Student Superheroes" at an awards ceremony held earlier this month at Bowers Museum. Jasmin has been a leader on campus, promoting a positive culture and climate. She serves as the "New Student Ambassador" ensuring new students receive a warm welcome to Santiago.

GGUSD Superintendent Earns Valuing Diversity Award

Congratulations to our remarkable Superintendent, Dr. Gabriela Mafi, 🌟 for being selected by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 17 for its 2024 Valuing Diversity Award 🏆 for her exemplary leadership fostering a districtwide culture and climate that celebrates diversity and implementing systems that ensure success for all students!! 🎓 During her 11 years as superintendent, she has greatly expanded opportunities for all students 🚀 and celebrated the rich diversity of GGUSD in a way that empowers students and families! #GGUSDPride #GGUSDGoalGetters

Patton Students Shine on Stage in Production of Beauty and the Beast

SHINING STARS: Patton Elementary School students delivered a fantastic performance of Disney's Beauty and the Beast recently. With two large casts, students captivated their audiences and brought the magical characters to life! We love seeing our students shine on stage!
