Construction Update
Exit 16 DDI
DATE: Friday, July 21, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION:
Sunday, July 23, through Thursday, July 27, during nighttime hours, 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m., U.S. 2/7 between Mountain View Drive and South Park Drive will be under lane closures to facilitate duct bank installation. At least one travel lane will remain open in each direction during the nighttime hours. Side street access will be maintained throughout this work. Motorists are strongly encouraged to use caution while driving through the work zone and pay close attention to signage as traffic patterns will change.

Monday, July 24, through Friday, July 28, during the daytime hours, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., work will continue along U.S. 2/7 throughout the project area and at the intersection of Mountain View Drive under lane closures. Only a single travel lane will be closed in each direction during the daytime hours. Traffic will be maintained through traffic shifts. Intermittent various lane closures along U.S. 2/7 between Mountain View Drive and South Park Drive will be in effect throughout the daytime hours to facilitate the paving of sections of roadway disturbed during overnight work. The outermost southbound lane along U.S. 2/7 between the I-89 ramps will be closed to facilitate retaining wall installation along the west side of U.S. 2/7. Independent utility work will require the closure of the outermost northbound lane along U.S. 2/7 just north of Lower Mountain View Drive. Starting Monday and continuing into midweek, lane closures at the intersection of Mountain View Drive will be in effect to facilitate water testing on the new water lines.

All users should expect delays and plan ahead.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Next week, during nighttime hours, crews will continue to install duct bank along U.S. 2/7 between Mountain View Drive and South Park Drive. Early next week, crews will be installing duct bank along U.S. 2/7 starting south of Mountain View Drive and continuing south towards the I-89 ramps. Starting midweek, crews will begin installing duct bank at South Park Drive working north. This work will require lane closures along U.S. 2/7.

Next week, during daytime hours, crews will continue to pave sections of disturbed roadway along U.S. 2/7 and construct the western retaining wall that will run along the west side of U.S. 2/7 outside of the I-89 bridge piers under lane closures. Crews will continue water testing the new water lines at U.S. 2/7 and Mountain View Drive through midweek under lane closures. Water testing will not require any water service interruptions.

Throughout the week, independent utility work will take place along the east side of U.S. 2/7 just north of Lower Mountain View Drive. This work will take place during the daytime hours and will require a lane closure along U.S. 2/7.
Crews continue constructing the retaining wall along the west side of U.S. 2/7 to allow for future pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
