GVBL Summer League

GVBL Summer League strives to be a fun experience for kids, playing and learning the game of basketball. Players of all abilities are welcome; divisions focus on appropriate age level skills while showing good sportsmanship.


Teams will have 1-2 games per week on Monday through Thursday nights. There are no practices during the 10 week season.

Registration opens 4/15

Single-sex divisions for grades 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and Boys high school

Any student from grades 8-12, as of Fall 2024, can add their names on the interest list.


Adults!

Adults are needed to referee and mentor student referees. Participate as much as you like through a weekly online signup. Indicate your interest now.

This Summer Basketball Camp is for Boys in grades 5-9 as of Fall 2024.


Camp will be held July 8th-12th from 8:30AM-3:30PM. All sessions will be held at the GVCO Community Center and the fee is $215.

Coach Werdt Nothing But Net - Aug. 5th - 12th 8:30AM - 3:30PM


This Summer Basketball Camp is for Boys in grades 3-6 as of Fall 2024.

 

So you have been playing in a summer league and now it's time to take your game to another level. Coach Werdt and his staff will refine your shooting, defense, ball handling, court awareness and passing to make you a better and more complete player.

Uptown Academy Travel Team Camp -

Aug. 12th - 16th 8:30AM - 3:30PM

This Summer Basketball Camp is for Boys in grades 5-8 as of Fall 2024.

 

This camp is for individual travel team players. It is open to the more experienced or skilled players with prior experience on a travel/tournament basketball team or program.

GVBL Tournament Team News

Our boys and girls GV Tournament Teams, grades 4th through 8th, have all had very successful winter seasons. A number of the GV teams participated in the PA State Championships over the past couple of weekends. Look for a more complete recap of all the teams seasons in next week's ATR. Many of the teams will continue to practice throughout the spring and participate in a number of tournaments as we move towards summer. 

 

We have also just finished up our 3rd grade tournament team clinics, as these rising 4th graders next fall will tryout for our girls and boys 4th grade GV tournament teams. Tryouts for all grade level teams get started in late September.

James McKay Memorial Tournament

James McKay Memorial Basketball Tournament Returned In 2024 And Was A Huge Success!

 

GVBL hosted its 1st ever tournament in the new GVCO Community Center this past March 7th - 10th. 22 teams from around the region participated in the event. The 4 day event culminated on Sunday with 5 divisional champions being crowned after pool play was completed the three previous days. At the completion of the event, 5 divisional all-Tournament teams were selected, along with a tournament MVP from each division. 

Uptown AAU

Uptown AAU boys basketball is more than a team; it's a brotherhood dedicated to pushing boundaries, fostering growth, and leaving it all on the court. Whether your athlete dreams of a collegiate career or seeks to refine their skills and build lasting friendships, Uptown Basketball Club is the premier destination for boys' basketball in the Southeastern Pennsylvania area.15U, 16U and 17U teams will be drawing from the Chester, Montgomery and Delaware county areas.

With over 15 years of coaching experience at both the High School and NCAA levels, Shawn is committed to helping athletes reach their highest potential. In addition to being a proven High School Head Coach, Shawn also served as an assistant coach at Philadelphia University for five seasons, under the legendary Herb Magee.

College and High School Internships

GVCO is looking for a self-motivated college student interested in assisting our organization with its summer programming. The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be able to work in a team environment, and enjoy working with youth. The candidate should have a background or interest in athletics, an understanding of scheduling, and budgetary/finance capabilities. 


The individual would perform:


- Facilities management 

- Scheduling management and oversight of programming 

- Administrative assistance with organizational messaging (social media/Constant Contact/other) 

- Developmental assistance with sponsorship marketing 

- Start-up support for youth fall programming

High School Internships


GVCO employs several high school - juniors or seniors - interns to assist with programming and administrative responsibilities. Internship will last throughout the 2024-25 school year. Hours would be after school, 3pm and 5pm Mondays through Fridays. 2 to 5 hours per week. GVCO will work with you to create flexible scheduling around academic responsibilities, sports seasons, theater and arts commitments, etc. Compensation will be $10.00 per hour.


Applications will be taken until May 31st; hiring decisions will be made June 30th.


GVHS Cooperative Education - Community Exploration Program


The GVHS Cooperative Education - Community Exploration Program is an option for seniors with enough credits to attend school for only part of the day. Internships and students are subject to the rules of Great Valley High School and governmental agencies.

Additional information about this program can be found in the "Career Internship/Community Partnership" and "Business Education" sections of the Great Valley High School Course Guide. To apply, contact the GVHS Counseling office.


Cooperative Education interns will assist with various programming, marketing and administrative responsibilities. The internship will last throughout the school year and compensation will be $12.00 per hour.
