Presented by the Delaware Department of Transportation, the Delaware State Police, and the Delaware Office of Highway Safety, this free full-day event will highlight current trends in highway safety within Delaware including presentations on how the state is working to reduce fatalities and serious injuries through various initiatives. | |

As reported by Coastal Point, "The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has launched its new podcast, “On the Move with DelDOT,” which will focus on transportation-related issues around the state. The first episode is now available and is a discussion on roundabouts with DelDOT Deputy Secretary and Chief Engineer Shanté Hastings." | |

Delaware ranked 49th in passenger fatalities in car crashes | |
As reported by DelawareLive, "Delaware ranks 49th – and it’s better to be at the bottom of this list – of the most dangerous states to be a car passenger. The ranking comes from looking at data on fatal crashes from 2017 to 2021 from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, specifically the number of passengers involved in fatal crashes and the number of those who suffered fatal injuries." | |

Wilmington Airport expansion includes adding second boarding gate | |
As reported by Delaware Business Times, "Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) revealed plans to expand on what was a record-breaking year for the airport. The DRBA gave the public a first look at a $12 million expansion plan at the Wilmington airport, which includes adding a food service and adding 6,000 square feet of space to the passenger holding room. The end goal would be to add a second gate for boarding passengers." | |

U.S. Department of Transportation releases Equity Action Plan | |
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) published the 2023 update of the DOT Equity Action Plan (the Plan). The plan is a part of the Department’s implementation of Executive Order 14091 - “Further Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.” | |

As a federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), WILMAPCO is charged with planning and coordinating transportation investments for the region based on federal policy, local input, technical analysis, and best practices. | |
