Message from our New Principal

Hello Tolt Bear Community!

I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to serve our students, staff, and families these past few months. We really do have a great community. Shout out to our wonderful PTSA! Your partnership is valuable to our culture here at Tolt.

The window for the community engagement survey has been extended. We are looking for stakeholder feedback which is important for us to continue to be a learning organization. Please use the survey link or QR code below. I encourage all stakeholders to take a few minutes to provide us with feedback through this survey. The results are anonymous and we really value your feedback.

It has been my pleasure to serve Tolt Middle School as Interim Principal this year. I wish you all the very best and a relaxing summer break.

Warmest regards,

Scott, Interim Principal

EES Family Survey

Dear Families,

For us to continue to improve as a school and district, it is important for us to understand stakeholder perceptions about the job we are doing in providing a quality education for all our children. We are seeking information through a 10-15 minute survey. Students in grades 4-12 will also take the survey at school.

We value your input as we strive to continue to improve. Thank you for your feedback.

To access the survey, visit:

EES Family Survey Link: Riverview SD

  • Choose your language preference on the opening page of the survey.
  • Select your child’s school. If you have children in multiple schools, complete one survey per child.
  • Complete the survey and click submit.

End of Year Library Information

WE NEED YOUR HELP IN THE LIBRARY!

This year, due to the cyber-attack, we have a large portion of library books that are unaccounted for and the records for who checked them out were erased. Please double check under the bed, in the trunk of the car, and in the closet for any books that need to be returned. These books would not show up on your Destiny account and you would not have received a fine for them. Your support in double checking that these books are not in your possession would be really appreciated.

If you find items over the summer, please return them in September. Thank you and I hope you enjoy your summer!

Thank you,

Carrie Holeman

End of and Next Year Reminders!

  • Summer is the perfect time to make an appointment with your healthcare provider. If your student has a life-threatening health condition, takes medication at school, has asthma, etc. you will be receiving paperwork in the mail over the summer to update. Make sure all paperwork is completed and turned in by Thursday, August 31, 2023. According to Washington State Law, students with life-threatening conditions are to have medication and/or treatment orders and an Emergency Care Plan in place prior to the first day of school.

  • The Tdap booster is a required 7th grade immunization. Your student MAY NOT attend the first day of school without obtaining the Tdap booster prior to 7th grade.

  • For more information on changes to Washington State’s Immunization rules, please visit this link.

  •  You are welcome to start turning in medications and paperwork during August 21-Sept. 1 as soon as our office re-opens on Monday, August 21. Nurse Rachel will have a table at Tolt’s Back-to-Business day on Monday, August 28, and you are welcome to turn in items then and check if anything is missing!

New 6th Grade Families: it is so helpful for me to have the most up-to-date health information for your student as they are new to me and Tolt. Please take a moment to complete the annual health form so I have the most current information for your student!

Check out the Tolt School Nurse website to see everything you need to do to prepare for next school year and make sure your student is ready for the first day of school!

First Day of School

First Day of School-September 5th, 2023

The first day of school on Tuesday, September 5th will start with only 6th graders and our 8th grade WEB leaders. Our WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) helps students transition into 6th grade through engaging activities led by 8th grade student leaders.

In the morning, 6th graders and 8th grade WEB leaders will be the only students on campus as they participate in WEB activities. The morning will include a welcome assembly, community-building activities, and a tour of our campus. Our 7th and 8th grade students will arrive in the afternoon for shortened class periods. Here is some important information, with times to note:

*6th graders will catch their bus at the normal time and arrive at Tolt for the start of school at 8:25 a.m. Breakfast will be available for purchase in the MPR as it normally is in the mornings when students get off the bus. There be a 30-minute lunch scheduled for all 6th graders and 8th grade WEB leaders.

*7th and 8th graders (non WEB leaders) will catch their bus 4 hours later than normal for a 12:25 p.m. start time (this means if the bus normally picks a student up at 7:38 a.m., the bus will pick them up at 11:38 a.m. on the first day of school). Lunch will be available for purchase in the MPR when students get off the bus similarly to how breakfast is served in the mornings. 7th and 8th graders should not arrive on campus until at least noon as their day will not start until 12:25 p.m.
