VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
The Bellingham Fire Department Office of Emergency Management Trusted Partner Network (TPN) is a new volunteer program that partners with trusted leaders in every language or cultural group in the city to share critical lifesaving emergency alerts.
TPN members are bi-lingual (English-read and speak), connected and trusted within their community, willing and able to share information to the people in their language group or other groups, able to use a smartphone, willing to partner with local government, and passionate about community safety.
TPN members will receive emergency alerts and share information about natural and man-made disasters or other emergencies in a language and format that is relevant to their community. We will provide an orientation to teach our volunteers what these alerts will look like and how to respond.
If interested in learning more about the TPN, please fill out the following Microsoft Form (https://forms.office.com/g/NnUvSzUSEr) with the relevant information so we may contact them about the program.

Statement from Gov. Jay Inslee, Washington:
“We’ve continued to monitor data from our state Department of Health, and have determined we are able to adjust the timing of our statewide mask requirement. While this represents another step forward for Washingtonians, we must still be mindful that many within our communities remain vulnerable. Many businesses and families will continue choosing to wear masks, because we’ve learned how effective they are at keeping one another safe. As we transition to this next phase, we will continue to move forward together carefully and cautiously.”
In Washington, indoor mask requirements will be lifted as of 11:59 p.m. on March 11.

NORTH BELLINGHAM BRANCH LIBRARY
|
The Bellingham Public Library has initiated a study of city library services and has hired a consultant to undertake this study. Since 2005, the Cordata Neighborhood Association has advocated for a branch library in North Bellingham. This area is currently served by the downtown library and the library branch in Barkley Village.
North Bellingham is the fastest growing area in the city, and we feel that it is need of library services that are more easily accessible to children, teens, and adults. Having a branch library in North Bellingham would help meet this need. The consultant will be seeking feedback from the community in regard to current services and the possible need for additional services. We have not yet received specific information about how this study we will be conducted although it is likely it will be in the form of online surveys, community meetings or focus groups.
We will share additional information on how you can make your views heard as we learn more about the consultant's method of communication. If you would like more information about our neighborhood association or would like to become directly involved in the effort to make a branch library in North Bellingham a reality you can contact us through our web site at cordataneighborhood.org. [select Contact and Support]
Having library services that are easily accessible will only enhance the quality for all of us in the North Bellingham neighborhoods. We look forward to your support.
