Keep Your Dogs Safe This Fourth of July

The Fourth of July has the dubious distinction of being the date that has more dog runaways than any other day of the year. SCRAPS has some tips on how to keep your dogs safe!

ICCU Summer Carnival

The grand finale of the ICCU Summer Carnival is the ICCU 4th of July Fireworks and Concert featuring the Spokane Symphony. Join us at Riverfront Park from 4 - 10 p.m. to witness the sky light up with spectacular fireworks.

Leave the Fireworks to the Professionals

The Spokane Fire Department reminds everyone that the sale and use of all amateur (consumer) fireworks is illegal in the cities of Spokane, Spokane Valley, Cheney, Millwood, Liberty Lake and the unincorporated areas of Spokane County. Firework fines range from $536 to $1,000 for each infraction.

Residents can dispose of unwanted fireworks in the household hazardous waste area at the Waste-to-Energy Facility. There is no disposal cost.

Burn Restrictions In Place

The Fire Marshal has implemented burn restriction which will help protect our air quality and reduce the risk of fires during the dry, warm summer.

During the burn restriction, it is still okay to use manufactured portable devices (like barbeques, fireplaces, chimneas, and patio warmers) as long as screens or spark arresters are in place. However, backyard fire pits and campfires need to wait until our fire risk reduces. Click here for more info.
