Pastor Scott Taylor was born and raised on the East side of Indianapolis to his parents, Bill and Mary Taylor, and along with his sister Stephanie. His mom passed away a few years ago from metastatic breast cancer and his sister passed away about 10 years ago. Pastor Scott's dad still lives in Plainfield, Indiana and is semi-retired from working all of his life as a Funeral Director. Pastor Scott has two children, Eliana (age 12, will be 13 in July) and Micah (age 9, will be 10 in April). They both live in Beech Grove with their mother and attend Decatur Central Schools.
He grew up going to Catholic schools all the way through the first part of college. After some challenges in life, he finished up his degree at Ashford University with a bachelor's degree in Organizational Management. He graduated from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio in 2012.
After a couple of student appointments near the Indianapolis area, his first full time appointment was in Corydon, Indiana. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity and helped build 3 homes during that time and oversee the launch of a Resale Store. The church was active with a tutoring program in a local elementary school as well as helping to provide snacks for the children throughout the day.
One Christmas program that they helped, featured the school's principal on the Rachael Ray show.
Pastor Scott then moved to northern Indiana to Mishawaka. Again he partnered with the school for tutoring. He was a member of the PTA and coordinated with them on their Trunk or Treat, where the church served free hot dogs, hot cocoa, and hayrides during the function.
His most recent appointment had him in South Bend where the church worked closely with the Lions Club, most specifically taking Special Needs Adult Campers on train rides. The camp is located about a mile away from the church. They also started a Trunk or Treat at the church because the area is rural and it is difficult for kids in the area to trick or treat.
Pastor Scott is looking forward to the many ministry possibilities that we will do together at Trinity UMC — Lapel.
