Sneak Peek...

A Message From Our Executive Director

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Our February Open House and Book Launch Party revealed the extension of the Heart Circle Wall, honoring the dedicated generosity of donors for the 2021-2024 Heart Circle drives. The names on the hearts are a powerful reminder that grief and love are intertwined as we surround our Little's Talking Room with the love of our donor community.

February also ushered in our new book, When Grief Comes Home! Seeing this book find its way into the hands and hearts of those who need it means so much. This book is an extension of Jessica's House, and Colleen and I are honored to share it!

Colleen and I also spoke at the Hilmar Covenant Church's Women’s Ministry Brunch and New Life Christian Center's Women's Bible Study. There, we shared the message of Jessica's House and When Grief Comes Home, as we reflected on grief, healing, and the importance of finding your "alongsiders." Both events showered Jessica's House with needed funding and program supplies!

As we celebrate Donor Appreciation Month, thank you for supporting us. Your generosity creates a space for children and families to heal, thrive, and know they're never alone.

Thank you for being part of this meaningful season.

Warmly,

Erin Nelson

Executive Director, Jessica's House

A Circle of Giving: Honoring Our Donors

Our Heart Circle open house was a magical evening of connection and gratitude. We welcomed generous donors and supporters to celebrate the expansion of our Heart Circle Drive Donor Wall, which showcased donors' hearts from 2021-2024, each representing the love surrounding our Littles Talking Room.

Our Youth Ambassador Allison moved everyone with her brave personal story, while Tea Noelle provided beautiful musical accompaniment. The evening also marked the launch of When Grief Comes Home, with each donor receiving a signed copy. Guests savored the generously donated offerings from Greens Catering, Gallo, and Dust Bowl and created lasting memories at The Posh Booth photo station.

We're deeply grateful to everyone who shared this special celebration with us!

The Big Day: When Grief Comes Home is Here!

Our launch day for When Grief Comes Home was one to remember. This book comes alongside parents in grief and provides tools for them to take care of themselves while supporting their children. Thank you to Legacy Health Endowment and EMC Health, Inc. who funded this project and provided a free copy for each family in our program. We also want to thank our early readers, staff, and volunteers-- your encouragement, kindness, and belief in its message made this day unforgettable. We've heard from so many who are finding this book helpful. Please take a moment to write an honest review. Your reviews help the book find its way into the hands of those who need it most.

Art Activity: My Dream Catcher

Materials: Paper plate, colored pencils, paper feathers, yarn, hole puncher, scissors

Directions:

In a Dream Catcher, the outer circle represents the circle of life. The web is believed to catch and destroy bad dreams, while the strings help good dreams pass by, sliding down to the feathers to comfort you as you sleep.

At the center of the dream catcher, write or draw scary dreams or bad memories and your feelings. Hole punch the outer edges of your plate and then create your web with the yarn by running it through the holes on the plate.

On some of the paper feathers, write down good memories or memories you wish you could have had with your person. On other feathers, write what can help after having a nightmare or when you think of hard memories. Loop yarn through the hole punches at the bottom of the plate and then through the hole punches on your feathers to attach them.

You can hang your dream catcher to catch the bad dreams in your room. If hard memories come to your mind during the day, imagine them getting caught in your dream catcher and then replace those thoughts with the good memories you included on your feathers.
