Beginning THIS morning, March 7, we will be adding handicap accessibility to our sanctuary seating. Session has approved the removal of a small section of pews on the outside aisles of both sides of the sanctuary to allow for handicap seating. This is part of our efforts to seek to make our space accessible for all people. We are grateful for the work of Thriving Congregations and our Strategic planning team. Construction may or may not be complete by this Sunday so we ask you to be respectful of the space if the work in progress. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Neeley.

General Ministry Information

Our WiredWORD class meets in the Gathering Room which is on the upper floor, through the Fireplace Room and near the restrooms. This room is sometimes referred to as "the old choir room" or "the old sanctuary" by long-time members. This class explores current events and discusses how our faith intersects and informs our response.

Our Foundations Sunday School meets in the Adult Classroom which is on lower floor classroom wing at the end of the hall way on the left. This class explores the lectionary scriptures each week, taught by a rotation of teachers.

Youth Sunday School meets in the Youth Classroom which is on the lower floor classroom wing. It is the first classroom on the left, past the restrooms. The class explores the lectionary scriptures each week, often as they relate to the weekly sermon.

Children's Sunday School meets in the Children's Classroom which is the second door on the right of the lower floor classroom wing. Children learn about God's love through the bible, play, and song.

People to Think About this Week

A Thank You from Witness Elder Curtis Watson

This note is a small gesture for the large part each and every one of you played in the success of the Red Cross Blood Drive last Monday, March 4th.

The blood drive does not succeed without volunteers to set up tables and chairs and volunteers to man the computer to verify and check-in the donors. It is so important to have pleasant hostesses and hosts to help the donors and thank them for taking time out of their busy lives to donate to this worthy cause and to make sure they get something to eat and drink before they leave. You were so good at regularly checking with the Red Cross personnel to find out if they needed anything.

The success of the blood drive also depends on the donations from our church members and church friends. Last Monday, we had more donations from church members and church friends than ever before. Thank you for rolling up your sleeves and getting the job done.

Last Monday we saw several repeat customers that come back because of the good feelings they get from donating at FPCC. The day was quite a success also in the number of donations we received. We received 31 units of blood. The 31 units was the most units we have received since I have been involved with the drives. THANK YOU FOR HELPING MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!

I look forward to our next blood drive which will be on Thursday, June 27th, from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM. We have 32 donation times designated and 1 has been taken. Come join me in the volunteering and donating as you can. More information will follow as the date draws nearer.

I pray that God will bless you and all your loved ones and keep you all safe.

Sincerely, Curtis Watson

Lent 2024 Theme

Wandering Heart: Figuring out faith with Peter

This Lent, we are focusing on the life and faith of one of Jesus’ most famous disciples. In Peter, we see a person who is both steadfast and unsteady, a dear friend and a betrayer, a follower and a wanderer. In Peter, we often see ourselves. By following Peter’s journey, we watch the story of Jesus unfold through the eyes of a very normal human trying to figure it all out—just like us.

This Lent, we will look for ourselves in the stepping stones of Peter’s story. We will reflect on the stages of our own faith journeys as well as who and what has shaped us along the way. As we wander, let us tune our hearts to sing God’s grace. May we rest in streams of mercy, never ceasing.
