Congratulations to the children who made their First Communion this year and to those who are newly confirmed! As part of this special occasion, each first communicant received a prayer table kit for home and also had the opportunity to create their own personalized candle adorned with an image that holds deep significance to them.

The RSVP Deadline for Commencement is Today, May 17!

SCM's Primary Specialist, Renee Smith, will share the Montessori approach to toilet learning and offer practical and emotional support to check this less-than-glamorous parenting task off your to-do list!

Join Renee this Friday, May 19, from 9:00-10:00 AM, as she shares:

• practical strategies to build positive restroom habits;
• how to curate your child's wardrobe for independent dressing and toileting;
• how to set up or adapt your restroom for your child's functional independence; and
• ideas for navigating common potty training power struggles.

Please join us on Thursday, May 25 at 6:30 PM for the AC Portfolio Showcase. During this event, each adolescent will have the opportunity to formally present the process behind their favorite work from this year. The showcase will be set up in a fair-like manner in the gym. We invite the SCM community and visitors to explore the showcase and hear presentations from students.

INSIDE THE CLASSROOM

7th and 8th Grade Montessori Collaborative Dance

7th and 8th year students from St. Catherine’s recently came together with peers from St. Stephen’s, The Post Oak School, and Westside to attend an '80s-themed dance! The event had a vibrant atmosphere with a DJ playing retro music, neon decorations, and snacks for everyone to enjoy.

High School Retreat at Double Lake in Coldspring, TX

Following a high school tradition, Owen, the Class of 2023, planned a retreat for the high school community to enjoy. He opted to take us camping, fishing and hiking, and led a hide-and-seek tag game called Manhunt. Taking us out to the Double Lake recreation area in Coldspring, TX, right in the center of Sam Houston State Park, the high school community stayed overnight to celebrate Owen and start off senior week, which will culminate with commencement exercises this on Friday evening.

SPORTS

Soccer and Volleyball Summer Camps at SCM

Soccer and volleyball camps are available to Upper Elementary through High School students (4th-12th grade) this summer. Each camp is divided into two parts: Week 1 and Week 2, and is open to both boys and girls. To participate, all necessary forms must be completed and submitted prior to the start of the camp.

Please note that the camps run for specific weeks, so be sure to choose the weeks that work best for you and your child.

MUSIC

Yesterday St. Catherine's Orchestra and Acapella Choir competed in the Pride of Texas Music Festival at iT’Z in Willowbrook. The groups each performed beautifully before a panel of adjudicators and received superior ratings. The students are thrilled about this recognition and proud to have achieved these accomplishments after their many hours of individual practice, group rehearsals, and collaboration. Congratulations to our young artists and to Creative Expression & Music Guide Mindy Snow!
