Sonoma Connect | Sonoma Unidos Partner Highlight: Hanna Institute

This month we would like to highlight our community partner, Hanna Institute! Through American Rescue Plan Act funding, Sonoma Connect | Sonoma Unidos has partnered with 10 funded partners, including Hanna Institute, to provide Direct Mental Health Services and systems-level changes to improve mental health support in Sonoma County. Hanna Institute recently launched Trauma Responsive Sonoma.

About the Trauma-Responsive Sonoma Series

Trauma Responsive Sonoma is a virtual training series designed by and for the Sonoma County community on trauma-informed and trauma-responsive care. The series offers an inspiring sequence of learning and connection that allows participants to build foundational knowledge, develop meaningful practices, and hone skills to use in a variety of community-serving settings (such as education, nonprofit, health center, hospital, business, government, and tribal settings). Trauma Responsive Sonoma centers strength-based and anti-racists approaches and frameworks – and believe trauma responsive care must recognize and seek to overcome the trauma correlated with white supremacy and cultural oppression.

Trainings are provided at no cost to Sonoma County residents. All virtual events and materials will be provided in English and Spanish, and available on-demand for the terms of the grant, so you can watch trainings you miss. Continuing Education units are available for a variety of professions at no extra costs.

Learn more about the amazing work Hanna Institute does

Hanna Institute develops innovative methodologies and trauma-informed practices to inform their work on campus and guide the work of their partners across the street, the region, and the country. From nationally recognized training and credentialed courses to large-scale program partnerships, the Institute works alongside youth and the community to break the cycle of trauma and create a healthier future for all. They host virtual and in-person training, seminars, and community events throughout the year to share leaders' and luminaries' knowledge, skills, and stories from trauma-informed and equity-centered practices.

Each year they host the Hanna Summit, an immersive and inspiring multi-day conference that shares new and proven approaches to preventing and healing trauma and early adversity. Currently held on an interactive virtual platform, the Summit welcomes educators, early childhood specialists, social service and health care providers, and community advocates. Participants will learn from experts and participate in engaging discussions and exercises to healing centered practices and resilience-build skills.
