Winter 2025

Now Showing

The newest version of gpmetro.org launched in February 2025.

There are several ways to plan a trip and track your bus. Use the real-time tracker on Metro's website (above); the Umo mobility app, GoogleMaps, or Transit App.

Easier navigation and information for:

  • Trip Planning
  • Service Alerts
  • Real-Time Bus Tracking
  • Route & Schedule Maps
  • Calendar/Events
  • News
  • and more...

The new Metro website is launching in two phases. The first phase launched the week of Feb 10, 2025.

Phase Two of our new website, launching soon, will refresh our text/email feature for rider alerts (these have been paused during the rebuild) and add more detailed schedule information.

Schedule Changes

Effective March 2, 2025

More Route 7 Service

Starting March 3, Metro Route 7 will have six additional roundtrips weekdays, Monday - Friday.

Route 7 riders have seen a few updates and schedule changes during the last few months. They have all been service improvements - more frequency, better span of service, and added locations.

In June, 2024, Route 7 expanded service beyond Downtown Portland to Outer Congress St. and the Jetport; In December, Metro Connect, new on-demand service in parts of Falmouth was introduced, and the newest schedule change adds more trips and improves frequency.

Starting in March, Metro Route 7 will operate more than 20 round trips, Monday - Friday, between Falmouth, Downtown Portland, and the Portland Jetport.

Now Snowing

With frequent storms and squalls, sometimes snow banks are too high and sidewalks and bus stops can't be cleared out as fast as we'd like.

It may be necessary to wait for the bus at a nearby driveway or street (instead of directly at the bus stop sign). If you're not standing at the bus stop, please make sure to wave to the driver as the bus approaches so you can be seen.

As a reminder, Metro rarely suspends service. Usually, only when blizzard conditions are forecast. If a decision is made to cancel service, Metro's website and social media pages, real-time apps, and local broadcast stations will have updates. It is likely that service may be delayed during major storms, so make sure and plan ahead. Additional information about riding the bus during the winter is included on Metro's website.

Metro crews work hard to clean up bus stops after snow storms. Bus stops are often loaded with piles of wet, heavy, icy snow left behind by plows and shovelers. We do our best to clear them as quickly as possible after storms.

2025 Title VI Program - Public Meeting

We want your input.

Join us March 4 at 1pm.

The TItle VI Program is developed to ensure that no one using our bus system is treated in a manner that is discriminatory and that bus services are shared equitably throughout the service area.

Every three years, transit agencies review and update their Title VI Program. The last Program update was in April 2022.

Additional information, translations, opportunities for involvement, and meeting link available on Metro's website at gpmetro.org/titlevi

Community partners and stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on Metro's 2025 Title Vi Program.

Join us in-person on Tuesday, March 4, 1pm,

at Metro's Administrative Office, 114 Valley Street,

or via webinar.

The Mobility Access and Transportation Insecurity (MATI) Project

Do you have experience taking the bus in Southern Maine? Partners in Southern Maine are creating a plan for a free or reduced-cost bus pass program that works across bus agencies in the region.

In order to better understand what is getting in the way of using public transit, they have created a survey to ask for the community’s input on what’s working well and what could be improved.
