Love Wins

by Rob Bell

Adult Christian Education

continues this weekend!

Bell challenges Christian readers to examine their views on heaven, hell, damnation, traditions, and God’s love. Key points will be discussed from the chapter read before each session.

This weekend's reading is

Chapter 5 , “Dying to Live".

The Gospel of Mark is the earliest written, the shortest, and maybe the most puzzling.   Why the sense of urgency and the ‘missing’ details? Why did Jesus tell people not to tell anyone about him?

Join Kathy Anderson in a study of Mark’s gospel which will include how modern scholars view the uniqueness of this gospel, and how it can encourage us today.

The study will be Mondays, March 11 through April 8, from 1:00 – 2:15 pm in Rowe Hall room 101. Bibles will be available or bring your favorite version.

Barb's Medical Minute

I LOVE pasta and always thought that it really isn’t good (meaning healthy) for you…. but I thought wrong. It seems that it can be a nutritious part of your diet. The problem is more the serving size, which should be around 2 oz. dry, or 1 cup cooked. (That’s OK for starters, but then I think a whole plate should be filled!) Combined with eggs, beans, fish, or meat and then a marinara sauce, light garlic and olive oil dressing, or pesto, it is a meal that is healthy. There are different pasta options also: regular (my fav) and tricolor are nutritionally the same, which means the least healthy, then there is whole wheat, which is a step up, and the healthiest is bean flour pasta. Seriously?? Who would willingly eat bean flour pasta? I did try that new vegetable pasta once….ended up throwing that out! Good way to ruin spaghetti!

Please keep the following people in your prayers:

  • Irma Baity
  • Bill Clark
  • Candi Messerschmidt
  • Brian Senn
  • The Malca Family

Prayers are lifted for the family & friends of Paulette Gates who passed away Saturday, February 24th.

Services pending.
