Greetings and salutations from Tipton County.
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Lance Newcomb. I have been blessed to become the new Director of Safe Harbor of Tipton County. I have been with Safe Harbor, in some capacity, since 2016 and have seen the Lord do some wonderful things in my life, as well as our company and am so excited to be in this new role as director of Tipton County. I have worked in several aspects of this ministry, and am excited about the newest chapter in my life, as well as the time ahead in this city.
We have hit the ground running with renovations in our new administration building and trying to build our clients up so that they are ready for their new life upon graduating our program. We currently have 6 very strong partners where we are sending our clients to work in hopes of them gaining and promoting established skills. We are also partnering with our IOP program to give our clients even more tools to help them in their success and through these combined efforts, we are seeing lives change for the better. Our work program is only a portion of our program.
We are very proud of the classes and counseling that our men receive on a daily basis. Our classes consist of fatherhood, relapse prevention, anger management, pastoral support, employment skills, and money management. We believe that these classes offer our clients the opportunity to gain knowledge from learned counselors during groups and gives them the opportunity to voice their experience in this environment.
Last, but not least, I was able to be a part of graduation with our men as Director and let me tell you, I was so excited for them. I have seen these very people come into our program doubting every aspect of their lives.....and to see them turn that around and find confidence in themselves and their God is a joy that I can not express on paper. This is something that one would have to see in person.
As stated earlier, it has been a route where we hit the ground running, and me and my team have no intention of slowing down now. Although the tornado tried to set us back, God has truly blessed us in every way . It reminds me of a story I once heard that goes like this, There was once a bird that landed on a tree and said tell me something I don't already know, the tree replied I have never seen a storm that has not passed over.
