Comfort Keepers 5th Annual National Day of Joy: June 28
We created the National Day of Joy in 2019 because our decades of helping seniors with our unique brand of uplifting in-home care shows us that a daily dose of joy can truly work wonders.
A recent survey of 2,000 Americans aged 65 and older has revealed that seniors are embracing the digital age and seeking ways to inject happiness into their lives. Commissioned by Comfort Keepers, a quarter of seniors believe their life advice could go viral on social media, while 63% actively engage with these platforms every day. In-Home Care vs. Home Health
Comfort Keepers Caregivers provide 'In-Home Care,' a non-medical form of assistance, support and companionship for seniors. (According to Johns Hopkins, an estimated 25 million older Americans rely on some form of In-Home Care Services as they age in place.) In contrast, Home Health Care includes limited medical support -- nursing care, health aides, and various types of therapy like occupational, physical, and speech.
Home Health Care plans are ordered and overseen by the client's own physician.

Sunscreen and Skin Care
Hot fun in the summertime? Yes, please! But don't forget to take care of your epidermis! While we may understand the importance of sunscreen, many of us simply don't use it consistently. Dermatologists agree that sunscreen is something we should all be using to protect our skin from UV rays -- and do so every day, at that. Did you know you're supposed to reapply sunscreen every two hours? And if you're swimming, doing water activities or exercising outdoors, you should be using a waterproof formula -- and reapplying that every 40 minutes or so. Elizabeth “Betsy” Ross is famous for making the first American flag. But is the account of her contribution to the American Revolution simply a legend?
Although she purportedly sewed the first flag in 1776, Ross wasn’t credited with this work during her lifetime. In fact, her story was first publicly relayed to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania nearly a century later, in 1870, by her grandson, William Canby.
It is also conceivable that Colonel George Ross—a signer of the Declaration of Independence and her deceased husband's uncle—recommended her for the job.
