Dolly Parton's Imagination Library: Augusta Health and UWSAW Partnership

Augusta Health and UWSAW are partnering together to bring Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to babies born at Augusta Health. This partnership, 'Books at Birth', started on July 1. Families will have the opportunity to enroll their newborns into the program. Each baby will receive a free book monthly until five years old.

To announce 'Books at Birth', Augusta Health and UWSAW hosted an event on June 29.

Golf Tournament Registration Now Open
UWSAW is excited to announce that registration is now open for our golf tournament! The tournament is Friday, September 15 at Orchard Creek Course.

The cost is $500 per team (four players). Lunch is included. Shotgun start will be at 9am. Deadline to register is Friday, September 1.

Volunteer for Stuff the Bus
Stuff the Bus is August 4-6, 2023, sorting day is August 7, 2023.

Stuff the Bus is an annual event where needed school supplies are collected for students in Staunton City, Augusta County, and Waynesboro City Public Schools. Supplies are collected outside of the Staunton and Waynesboro Walmart and sorted based on the Free & Reduced Lunch percentages within each public school.

In 2022, over $77,000 worth of school supplies were donated to 30 schools in our community.

Ready for some friendly competition between volunteer groups? United Way SAW will be awarding the Golden Bus again this year.

Three awards will be presented:
·        School with the highest percentage of participation from staff
·        Civic organization with the most volunteer hours
·        Business/Organization with the most volunteer hours

UWSAW Out & About
Maria and Kristi attended the Community Grants Celebration on June 7. UWSAW is honored to be one of the Community Foundation Central Blue Ridge grant recipients.
Happy Birthday, Jessica! Jessica celebrated her 40th birthday on June 12.

Kristi gave a presentation on ALICE during a Kiwanis Club of Waynesboro meeting on June 6.
UWSAW is partnering with Community in Motion for another summer of fun! Jessica visited some neighborhoods in Waynesboro on June 7. For more information on Community in Motion, check out the website: www.communityinmotion.net

Jessica will be heading out with the bus in July and August too.
Maria is all smiles while hosting a table during the Greater Augusta Rechartering Event, held at the Augusta County Government Center, on June 13.

Welcome to the team, Zeke!
UWSAW would like to welcome Zeke Schmidt to the team. Zeke is a student at Longwood University where he is majoring in Communications Study with a concentration in Digital Media. His focus this summer at UWSAW will be Stuff the Bus.
