Post Street Bridge Sewer Pipe Switch Successful

Crews renovating the Post Street Bridge have installed a new 60 inch interceptor line that carries wastewater over the Spokane River. For more information on this engineering feat visit our website.

City Closures Planned For Memorial Day

  • Garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be a day late all week, with normal Friday services planned for Saturday.
  • City Hall, the Waste-to-Energy facility, and other City facilities will be closed.
  • On street paid parking will not require payments but remember even when parking is free on holidays, all parking rules, including time limits, still apply.
  • All Spokane Public Library branches will be closed.
  • My Spokane 311 employees will not be available.
  • Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will be closed.
  • Spokane City Council is not scheduled to meet, their next legislative meeting will be Monday, June 5.

South Logan TOD Public Comments Sought

We want to hear from you! The City is seeking input on the draft South Logan Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Plan and the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). A 30-day public comment period is open through Thursday, June 8. Learn more about the draft documents and how to comment here.

Non-Project SEPA Comment Period Open

The City of Spokane is accepting public comment to the Non-Project State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) process now through Monday, June 5, for the Fluoride System Implementation Study. Instructions for submitting comments are in the SEPA document on the City’s website.

City Awarded Grant from Washington State Department of Commerce

The City of Spokane has been awarded a $50,000 grant by the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board for a feasibility study on developing a Creative Economy Hub, including business incubation and acceleration in downtown Spokane. 

Current ARPA Funding Opportunities

The City is currently seeking proposals to use American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. Current funding opportunities include:

  • Cultural Event Incentive Grant - These grants are meant to expand access for all residents to a wide range of cultural experiences, support the resilience and sustainability of cultural events, and enhance the City's overall cultural environment. The application deadline has been extended to Wednesday, June 7, 5 p.m.
  • Small Businesses Grant - Grant funding is for small businesses that were impacted by the COVID pandemic and need help in post pandemic recovery. The application deadline is Thursday, Aug. 31, 5 p.m.

A virtual Q&A open house session for the proposed Building Opportunity for Housing Comprehensive Plan amendments concerning Land Use will be Thursday, June 1, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Click here to join the Teams meeting. The public comment period runs through Wednesday, June 7.

Housing Survey Generates More Than 3K Responses

More than 3,000 respondents took the Housing Journey Survey that helped shape the proposed Comprehensive Plan amendment language and will provide insight for the upcoming development code changes. If you missed the survey, comment on the Building Opportunity for Housing project at DevelopmentCode@spokanecity.org. Watch a video of some of the survey respondents. 

North Spokane Community Connect Broadband Survey

The BroadLinc Public Development Authority was created by the Spokane County Commissioners to coordinate with local governments, tribes, public and private entities, and nonprofits to develop strategies and plans to construct broadband internet infrastructure. BroadLinc will oversee the acquisition of broadband assets and infrastructure on behalf of member cities and towns of Spokane County.


Understanding the current internet services and quality for Spokane County residents will help BroadLinc apply for federal grants. Please take this short 2-minute survey about your internet services and needs.
